Beautiful Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach serves as the backdrop for a wonderful morning run or walk in support of music scholarships. Join the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches on Saturday, February 3rd for their 5th Annual 5K Walk/Run, and then be treated to free pancakes when you’re done!
Young Singers of the Palm Beaches 5th annual 5K is thankful to once again have Cub Scout Pack 141 manning a five-foot griddle, serving up pancakes to re-fuel runners and walkers. The public is invited to participate. All runners will be chipped and timed. This year’s 5K event will feature, in addition to pancakes, pre-run snacks, a flag ceremony by the Cub Scouts, a live emcee and live entertainment including the talents of some of the Young Singers of the Palm Beaches, several raffles, and a medal awards ceremony. All who sign up to race will receive a free t-shirt, participation medal and goody bag.
Young Singers of the Palm Beaches annual 5K event benefits the Mary Murray Scholarship Fund, which was created to assist children who have an interest in singing and a desire to train and perform with Young Singers of the Palm Beaches but are unable to financially do so. It is named after and in memory of Mary Murray, the mother of Young Singers of the Palm Beaches’ Managing Director, Melanee Blankstein. Mary Murray’s three grandsons, Jackson, Drew, and Tyler have all been a part of Young Singers as well, both as choir members and alumni volunteers. In addition, Murray’s children and grandchildren from Palm Beach county, Texas, Louisiana, Indiana, and New York will all be there to honor her memory.
Young Singers’ 5K welcomes runners and walkers of all age. Online registration is now open at www.yspb.org/5K; a family registration discount is available. For more information, contact Young Singers of the Palm Beaches at 561-659-2332 or visit www.yspb.org/5K.
