The U.S. Open Polo Championship, considered to be the most prestigious polo tournament in the world, is being played at the International Polo Club Palm Beach from April 3 through April 24. It is the exciting culmination of the 17-week, high-goal winter polo season that attracts polo enthusiasts from more than 30 countries and 50 states.
This year’s U.S. Open Polo Championship boasts eight competing teams of elite players, many of whom are regarded as the best polo players in the sport’s history. Spectators get an up close look at American polo played at its pinnacle – with skill, speed, and stamina – and catch a glimpse of the traditions, elegance, fashion, and festivities that personify the “Sport of Kings.”
The U.S. Open Polo Championship dates back to 1904 when it was first played at Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y. It is a significant honor to host the esteemed tournament, which has been played at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, Fla., since 2004.
