This club gives children in grades 5-8 the opportunity to explore science and technology in a whole new way as they experiment with computer programming and even design their own video games. Classes are held the first Thursday of each month from 5pm-7pm.

What: Hackathon – The Palm Beach Tech Hackathon is a three day event where participants form teams, vet ideas, create a project, then present their work to an expert panel of judges. Teams will consist of engineers, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs, with successful teams having a mix of these areas of expertise and winners walking away with a combination of cash and in-kind prizes. Regular Science Center guests are welcome to tour the competition and learn more about the “hacking” movement with on-site Educators and local vendors.

What: Nights at the Museum – “Dark Sky Party!” On the last Friday of each month, from 6-9pm, guests of all ages can enjoy extended hours of exploration at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium! Each Night at the Museum is a different theme, which includes various interactive science crafts, activities, entertainment, exhibits, planetarium shows and a chance to view the night sky in Palm Beach County’s only public observatory! Food and beverage from Wholesome Tummies Cafe will be available for purchase throughout the evening. This month’s theme is “Dark Sky Party” and will include activities such as astronomy themed demos and crafts, an Oreo Moon Phase activity, immersive Planetarium shows and night-sky viewing through various telescopes provided by the Astronomical Society of the Palm Beaches. All night-sky viewing is weather permitting.
