More than a dozen classic pre- and post-war automobiles on display on Saturday November 16th
(West Palm Beach, Fla.) – The 3rd Annual Sculpture in Motion – The Art of Pre- and Post-War Automobiles will park itself at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens on Saturday, November 16. Presented by 2019-20 Special Events Partner of the Season Sentient Jet, the day-long event will be chaired by Frances and Jeffrey Fisher, Audrey and Martin Gruss, and Lisa and Sam Lehrman. Classic car star Donald Osborne of CNBC Primetime’s weekly show Jay Leno’s Garage will be the Grand Marshal and John Barnes, founder of Cavallino Magazine and The Cavallino Classic, will once again serve as the guest curator and Honorary Chair for the exhibit.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sculpture in Motion welcomes visitors of all ages to experience the history and design of more than a dozen one-of-a-kind, classic pre- and post-war automobiles. Guests will have the chance to cast their votes for ‘Most Artistic,’ ‘Most Elegant,’ ‘People’s Choice’ and ‘Young Connoisseur.’ In addition, guests can partake in special tours and presentations about the automobiles, hosted by experts. Children, accompanied by their parents, will have the opportunity to be engaged with STEAM activities in the Gardens’ Environmental Classroom from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Sculpture in Motion has quickly become one of the most well attended and beloved events of the season,” said Frances Fisher, Event Co-Chair and ANSG Board Chairman. “We are thrilled to be bringing this unique one-day exhibition back for a third time with even more rare and stunning automobiles for the public’s enjoyment.”
In addition to his television work, Grand Marshal Donald Osborne is an author, car historian, host, consultant and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (A.S.A.) member of the American Society of Appraisers. Osborne works for clients across the world on the acquisition, sale and valuation of classic vehicles and travels all over the world attending major events, rallies and auctions. He has served as judge or emcee at many leading automotive concours events. On Jay Leno’s Garage, Osborne co-hosts recurring segments ‘Assess & Caress with Donald Osborne’ and ‘Behind the Bowtie,’ sharing his knowledge on classic car values with Leno and the viewers.
Osborne will be signing and selling copies of his book Stile Transatlantico / Transatlantic Style- A Romance of Fins and Chrome, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds will go to ANSG. Osborne’s book brings to light the depth and range of the creative exchange in automotive design between Italy and America in the decade following the end of World War II.
“Any true review of 20th century design and the effect of World War II on automotive design must include a close look at this dynamic and fascinating period of creative exchange between two automobile loving nations,” said Osborne. “Automobiles designed and built in the decade and a half spanning the end of World War II through 1960 represented much beyond mere function. They served as the tangible expressions of progress, personal freedom, style and prestige for both the manufacturer and the consumer who drove them. As Grand Marshal for Sculpture in Motion, I look forward to relaying this message to the visitors that attend.”
In addition to his book, Osborne will be posting live to social media from Sculpture in Motion and encourages all car-lovers to follow the event’s festivities by watching a preferred hashtag and on his Instagram at @osbornedonald and his Facebook at @automotivevaluationservices.
During the evening, Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens will be transformed into a unique outdoor showroom for a special VIP cocktail reception with more intimate viewing of the cars from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and awards will be presented to collectors at the reception that evening.
“Sculpture in Motion is an extraordinary showcase for both automobile collectors and visitors of all ages,” said Barnes. “I am proud to support an event with this caliber that passes on the value of history and artistic design of automobiles, while supporting a cultural gem in our community.”
In addition to Sentient Jet, sponsors to date include Gunster, Key Private Bank and Palm Beach Illustrated.
