Josephine Gon

Gon has been responsible for JCRC’s tremendous growth, as the organization advocates for the Jewish people and Israel, builds connections with other faiths and ethnicities, and creates unity among Jewish leaders and organizations. In addition to fostering strong relationships with state and federal lawmakers, Gon has led JCRC’s effort to stand up to rising antisemitism and denounced hatred, which includes standing in solidarity with the Black community. Born and raised in South Africa, Gon has nearly 20 years of experience in Jewish communal services including Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Springfield, Illinois as well as work in labor relations, both in South Africa and in the United States.

“I look forward to representing Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County’s Jewish Community Relations Council in this esteemed program, and to foster connections with other civic and private like-minded leaders so together, we can make a positive impact on our County,” shared Gon.

The 55 class members were selected for their leadership and service in their professional and civic lives. They will meet each month from September through May to explore program topics such as agriculture, education, public safety, and healthcare. They will also break up into smaller groups to do community engagement projects, benefiting local non-profits and aimed at tackling challenges facing the region. The Engage Class of 2020-2021 will also have the unique opportunity to see first-hand how Palm Beach County is being affected by and responding to the COVID-19 crisis.
