Wellington is proud to announce that it has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 All-America City Award. Wellington is one of only two cities in Florida that made it to the finalist spot. The All-America City Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes communities for their outstanding work in improving the health and well-being of young people.
The National Civic League has recognized twenty finalists for the award, representing 12 states and ranging in size from 4,700 residents to over 8 million. The finalists were chosen for their focus on authentically involving and welcoming youth in their work to improve the community.
Wellington is excited to be among the twenty finalists, which include Port St. Lucie, FL; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; and New York, NY, among others. All of the finalists share a common goal of building the civic capacity of young people and improving the well-being of all residents.
The competition for the All-America City Award will take place in June, where Wellington and the other finalists will present their work to a panel of judges. We are confident that our community will make a strong case for why Wellington deserves to be named an All-America City.
Village Manager, Jim Barnes stated, “Being named a finalist for the All-America City Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our community. Wellington is committed to improving the lives of our residents, especially our youth, and we are honored to be recognized for our efforts. We look forward to showcasing our community and competing for the title of All-America City in June.”
