Allison Parssi Photograph Selected for

“Portraits 2013,” a Juried Showcase at

The Center for Fine Art Photography, Ft. Collins, CO

 

Wellington, FL / Rochester, NY (Jan. 31, 2013) – Wellington High School graduate (2012) Allison Parssi, now a photography major at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York, is one of 44 artists from seven countries whose work was selected for the prestigious “Portraits 2013” exhibit at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado (www.c4fap.org). ;

A total of 57 photographs were chosen by juror Charles Guice,  director of Charles Guice Contemporary. 

Recognized for developing new talent as well as for advancing more established artists, Guice has been instrumental in the careers of several of today’s leading contemporary artists, including Erika Diettes, Birthe Piontek, Hank Willis Thomas and Carrie Mae Weems. Guice has placed works in prominent private and public collections throughout the United States and abroad, including The Brooklyn Museum of Art, The J. Paul Getty Museum, The High Museum of Art, The International Center of Photography and The Williams College Museum of Art.

The exhibit runs February 15 – March 23, 2013, with an opening reception on March 1, 2013 from 6-9pm.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Allison Parssi was the recipient of a 2012 Pathfinder Award, recognizing her as the top art student in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, and her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.  She had her first solo exhibition when she was an eighth-grade student (“Palm Beach-One County, Two Worlds”). Her work has also won numerous awards, including a gold medal in the national Scholastic Art & Writing competition and a Young Arts Merit Award. At 16, she was the youngest artist ever to have a piece accepted into the juried All Florida Show at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.   For more information, and to see her work, visit www.AllisonParssi.com.
