TO KICK OFF “WOMEN IN POWER” SPEAKER SERIES
PNC’s 2012 Series to Benefit YWCA for Fifth Consecutive Year
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (December 12, 2011) – PNC Bank, a division of The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC) announced their “Women in Power” speaker series will benefit the YWCA of Palm Beach County for the fifth consecutive year. Headlining the opening luncheon of the 2012 series on January 18th will be Gahl Hodges Burt, former Social Secretary to the Reagan White House.
PNC’s “Women in Power” speaker series was created in 2007 to raise awareness and support for programs that encourage, promote and provide development for girls and young women in Palm Beach County. Nationally acclaimed women are brought to the area to present their personal and professional journey to success.

In addition to the post of Social Secretary to the Reagan White House, Ms. Burt has held positions in U.S. State Department including personal assistant to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and later Assistant Chief of Protocol. Other speakers and luncheon dates include noted journalist Laura Ling on February 8th, and best-selling author Jeannette Walls on March 6th.
All events take place at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre located at 415 Clematis Street, West Palm Beach. Registration begins at t 11:30 a.m., and the luncheons commence at noon. YWCA of Palm Beach County will handle guest payment and direct all proceeds to fund their programming needs.

The YWCA of Palm Beach County is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization that has been in existence since 1917. It has served as a women’s association focused on eliminating racism and empowering women. The YWCA is the largest provider of domestic violence services to women and children in the county to include a 24-hour hotline; a 63-bed shelter that cares for over 550 individuals a year; supportive and individual counseling for English and non-English speaking women; and transitional housing for homeless mothers and their children in the Glades. Through its accredited child development centers, the YWCA also provides an array of services to 127 toddlers and young children. The Y-Girls program is a weekly opportunity for girls aged 9-13 years operating in several low-income communities in the county. The program focuses on empowering the young women by affording them educational, cultural, pre-vocational, and social opportunities that would not otherwise be available to them.
