EDUCATES YOUNG CHILDREN ABOUT NATURE

 

On Saturdays, February 16, 2013 and Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 10:30AM to 11:30 AM, the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) will have children’s programs about Spiders.   The Refuge began a new children’s themed activity this month.  With a new year comes new innovative programming, said Volunteer Coordinator Chuck Ryan.  The

month of January started off with teaching children ages 4-6 about butterflies with stories and crafts.  The programs are free and families should meet in the Visitor Center Theater.  Register your child for this event by calling 561-734-8303.The refuge is located off U.S. 441/SR 7, two miles south of SR 804 (Boynton Beach Blvd.) and three miles north of SR 806 (Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue).  The refuge is currently open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week.  Refuge hours change seasonally and are posted at each entrance.  The Visitor Center hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week.  An entrance fee of $5.00 per vehicle or $1.00 per pedestrian is charged.  A variety of annual passes, including a $12.00 refuge specific annual pass, are available.  Please visit the refuge website at
