(West Palm Beach, FL – September 19, 2016) Margaret Bagley, MNM, the Chief Executive Officer of Communities In Schools of Palm Beach County, Inc. (CIS), today announced that it has been awarded a three-year grant totaling $195,000 from The Jim Moran Foundation. The grant will be used to fund the not for profit, tax exempt organization’s Charting for Success Program at Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida.

“My husband, Jim, created his foundation to improve the quality of life for the youth and families of Florida through the support of innovative programs and opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of the community. With this grant, we recognize the positive impact Communities In School is making by providing high school students in Belle Glade with the tools, resources and encouragement to help prepare them for brighter and more successful futures,” says Jan Moran, Chairman and President of The Jim Moran Foundation.

Since 1984, CIS has been “surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.” In the 2014-15 school year, for example, CIS outcomes included an 85% promotion rate and an 89% graduation rate for students receiving its group or individualized services. The statewide graduation rate in Florida is 75%.

“CIS is very grateful to The Jim Moran Foundation for this generous grant that will help us to make a profound and positive impact in the lives of high school students in Belle Glade,” says Margaret Bagley. “We are committed to keeping students in school and enabling students to successfully learn and prepare for life.”
