Tequesta, Fla., (November 18, 2024) – Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC) is proud to present “Celebrate!”, an inspiring exhibition honoring the creativity of participants from LAC’s “Art For All” outreach programs and featuring the work of the ArtCenter’s esteemed faculty. The exhibition will run from December 5 to 14, 2024, at 373 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta, FL 33469, with an opening reception on Thursday, December 5, from 5 to 7 pm. Admission is free for LAC members, participating artists, and their guests, with a $5 suggested donation for other attendees.

“This exhibition is a beautiful reflection of the power of art to unite and inspire people from all walks of life,” said Jeni Licata, Executive Director of Lighthouse ArtCenter. “We are incredibly proud of the creative accomplishments of our Art For All participants and our faculty, who continuously push the boundaries of artistic expression.”

Lighthouse ArtCenter provides free art instruction and supplies to sixteen outreach programs dedicated to underserved communities throughout Palm Beach and Martin counties. This exhibition highlights the diversity of our outreach participants, and emphasizes the therapeutic and community-building benefits of creating art.

“Visual arts have been proven to treat PTSD effectively and have a transformative effect on individuals suffering from traumatic brain injury,” said Serin Leas, Program and Education Director at Lighthouse ArtCenter. “Creating art builds valuable skills for individuals with intellectual disabilities and brings a sense of belonging and well-being. We see firsthand how creating art helps participants gain confidence, express their emotions, and connect with others.”

The exhibition features paintings, jewelry, and glass art created by veterans in collaboration with the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, where a Creative Arts Therapist works with LAC instructors. The artwork from the Olivia Palumbo Adult Special Needs Classes, 2D pieces from children at Banner Lake Academy in Hobe Sound, and contributions from children at El Sol, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center, will also be displayed. Additionally, paintings from residents at Mangrove Bay, who participate in LAC’s Senior ArtReach program, are featured in the exhibition.

In addition to the outreach programs, “Celebrate!” offers a special preview of the latest creations by LAC’s esteemed faculty members, including Carolyn Austin, Pam Ayres, Caroline Duran, Chris Eliades, Eduardo Gomez, Lisa Johnson, Serin Leas, Eileen Lyons, Ruth Mamo, Amalia Mermingas, Ralph Papa, Caemille Perrin, Barbara Powell, Tracey Roedl, Jennifer Rubinstein, Manon Sander, Ron Shaw, Chad Steve, and Stella Vasilopoulos. Before the new class sessions begin on January 6, 2025, members and guests can explore the evolving styles of their favorite instructors, acquire their latest works, and sign up for upcoming classes.

A Community Holiday Sale will be held on December 7 to celebrate the season further, offering a chance to purchase unique artwork just in time for the holidays.
