A note from Sylvia Pelizza , Area 4 Supervisor and Project Leader for the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee Refuge

I am pleased to represent the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge as host to the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, A Fun Family Festival on March 10th.  The Refuge, named for Arthur R. Marshall, Jr. is one of just 14 refuges out of a total of 560 nationwide named in honor of an individual.  Our Refuge is the last northernmost portion of the unique Everglades. With over 221 square miles of Everglades habitat, it is home to the American alligator and the critically endangered Everglade snail kite. As many as 257 species of birds use the Refuge’s diverse wetland habitats. We look forward to seeing you on March 10th, and know that once you visit, you will want to come back often!
