West Palm Beach, FL, February 20, 2012The Palm Beach Zoo has announced the following special events for February, March, April, and May of 2012. All events are free with Zoo Admission.

 

 

February 2012

DragonFest

Saturday, February 25 / 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Celebrate the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon at the Palm Beach Zoo! Guests will enjoy Komodo dragon-themed animal enrichments, keeper talks, children’s crafts, live entertainment including vocal performances by students at the Contemporary Chinese School of South Florida, martial arts display from students at Falcon Martial Arts, and a Kung Fu demonstration and an authentic Dragon Dance performed by the John Wai Kung Fu Academy.  Please visit our website for complete schedule of events. www.palmbeachzoo.org

We Care Kids Fair – Hosted by Parenting Plus Magazine

Saturday & Sunday March 3 & 4 / 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This bi-annual event provides families with dynamic hands-on cultural and educational activities presented by local service organizations and businesses. The days’ entertainment includes live children’s performances, bounce house, games, crafts, and more. And don’t forget about the zoo’s amazing animal encounters and wonderful wildlife shows! Save the Florida Panther Day – Colin the Panther’s 17th Birthday Celebration

Saturday, March 17 / 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Celebrate “Save the Florida Panther Day” and help us celebrate our very own Florida panther Colin’s 17th birthday. Enjoy a day full of animal encounters, keeper talks, and St. Patrick’s Day themed photo-ops, crafts, and giveaways. Make sure to swing by the Florida Pioneer House to see Colin enjoy his surprise birthday treat at 11:30 a.m.!

Earth Day: Party for the Planet

Friday – Sunday, April 20 – 22 / 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“Go Green” at the Palm Beach Zoo and celebrate Earth Day with your furry, feathered, and scaly friends!  The Palm Beach Zoo is partnering with other AZA-accredited zoos throughout the country to host the largest Earth Day celebration to help visitors discover ways to connect to the environment and to spark a major effort to address the conservation crisis.

Malayan Tiger Cubs’ 1st Birthday Celebration

Saturday & Sunday, May 12 & 13 / 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Bear Awareness Days

Saturday & Sunday, May 19 & 20 / 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Discover the “bear necessities” on how to support bear conservation.  Check out amazing bear bio-facts, learn about bear behavior through an exciting keeper talk/enrichment session, create your very own bear-themed masterpiece, play “Do Bears Eat Better Than I Do?” and see how you “measure up” to “Lewis & Clark,” our black bear brothers.
