DIVAS CAPtivate GUESTS AT 25th ANNIVERSARY
Comprehensive AIDS Program Celebrates 25 Years of Serving Palm Beach County
( West Palm Beach , Fl) More than 400 friends and supporters of the Comprehensive AIDS Program of Palm Beach County, Inc., (CAP) kicked up their Jimmy Choos at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in West Palm Beach to honor CAP’s milestone 25th Anniversary of serving Palm Beach County at CAPtivating Divas.   The evening began with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by Diva-luscious entertainment. 
International songstress Avery Sommers, courtesy of Rob Russell, Entertainment Director of the Colony Hotel on Palm Beach, kicked off her new CD and got the party started on Sunday night with rousing and joyful strains of Hair’s Age of Aquarius.  The Diva of Palm Beach, Ms. Melissa St. John and her cast of Divas Galore lit up the stage in the high-energy drag show while dancing all night long to tunes from the past and today. 
“Since its inception in 1985, CAP has grown into one of the most successful community-based HIV/AIDS service organizations in the nation,” said Larry Leed , deputy executive director of CAP. “We are grateful to have such fabulous supporters, some of which have supported the organization for 25 years. We went back to our roots and celebrated our milestone anniversary with a spectacular show like we used to do in the 1980s at The Danny Awards.   People enjoyed reuniting with friends they hadn’t seen in years while being entertained by a fantastic cast of Divas.”
Guest had a chance to win an assortment of spectacular auction and drawing items, including a first row seats to see Sir Elton John in concert.  To end the night, one lucky guest took home a stylish BMW bicycle valued at over $1,200 who will be donating the bicycle to a student at the Lake Worth High School.
Founder of Palm Beach Principal Players Vicki Halmos treated her entire cast to CAPtivating Divas as the closing night cast party of her recent run of Cabaret and CAP’s 25 Anniversary.
Honorary chairs of the event were Fred and Anjette Scheiman and Doug Randolph. Event chairs were Tony Jordan and Orlando Chiang Event Committee members included, Harold Atchison, Dan Hall, Scott Kent, Cal Miller, Rob Russell, Greg Savarese, Alan Salomon, Charles Capers, Taylor Stevens, Jim Sugarman and Justin Zenko with the support of the CAP Staff Committee.
The event committee unveiled a special tribute plaque designed and created by Orlando Chiang in memory of long time CAP supporter Palm Beacher Lydia Crozier.

CAP provides and promotes education, advocacy and compassion to individuals and families infected and affected by HIV and AIDS through case management, education and prevention and other support services.  CAP works throughout Palm Beach County to provide housing assistance, food, transportation, mental health counseling and emergency assistance to clients and families living with HIV/AIDS.  
Since its inception in 1985, CAP has provided educational services to more than 250,000 people in a variety of settings, including prisons, county schools, on the streets in high-risk neighborhoods, in health settings, substance abuse treatment centers, methadone clinics, and others.  The local organization has grown into one of the most successful community-based HIV/AIDS service organizations in the nation.
