DONATE YOUR DIME AT WHOLE FOODS MARKET – WELLINGTON
Program encourages customers to reuse shopping bags by offering charitable incentive

During the fall program, Donate your Dime, in place now and running through January 16, 2011, customers who bring their own shopping bags to the Whole Foods Market in Wellington can choose to donate a refund of 10 cents per bag to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, or the Whole Planet Foundation.

FAU Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, one of the oldest nature centers in the nation, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.  Pine Jog serves over 25,000 students, 750 teachers and 12,500 adults & families annually from Palm Beach County and surrounding counties through its field trip and schoolyard programs, summer camps, and special events. One of Pine Jog’s new initiatives is the Palm Beach County Green Schools Recognition Program which honors schools that are working to create cultures of sustainability.  Proceeds from the “Donate Your Dime” will go to support this initiative and other Pine Jog programs.  Please visit www.pinejog.fau.edu for more information.

The Whole Planet Foundation mission is to create economic partnerships with the poor in those developing-world communities that supply our stores with product. Through innovative assistance for entrepreneurship – including direct microcredit loans and tangible support for other community partnership projects – we seek to unleash the energy and creativity of every human being we work with in order to create wealth and prosperity in emerging economies.  Please visit www.wholeplanetfoundation.org for more information.

Donate your Dime is a program designed to encourage customers to reuse their shopping bags.  During each quarter of the year, a local charity is chosen to be one of the beneficiaries opposite the Whole Planet Foundation, which is always included as an option.
