ROTARY CLUB OF WELLINGTON, FL.- October 5, 2014

The Rotary Club of Wellington just completed its annual Dictionary Project as part of its community service projects for the year.  The Rotary Club donates dictionaries to every third grade class in the Wellington School District and members of the club personally deliver them to the classes and discuss some of the content of the book to ensure the students understand the meaning of specific words in the English language.  Every year it seems that Rotary volunteers enjoy the project even more than previous years.  The program started on Monday September 29th and was completed Friday October 3rd, 2014.

Over 2400 dictionary were distributed to the children in the schools.  The dictionaries were donated by The Rotary Club of Wellington both by specific grants obtained by the Rotary Foundation as well as personal donations by members of the club.  During the distribution of the dictionaries, the students were also given a presentation about Rotary and what the club does both locally and internationally.  Some of the classes were taught the Rotary’s “Four Way Test” which is the mantra of Rotary worldwide.

The program was spearheaded by Debbie Sanacore and Maggie Zeller, the Rotary Club’s Director of Community Service Projects.  Many of the members of the Rotary Club either participated in the distribution of the dictionaries to the classes and other members spoke to the classes to discuss the contents of the books.  The Rotary Club looks forward to continuing this annual program next year and in years to come.  For more information about the Rotary Club of Wellington or to become a member, please contact Bob Salerno, Public Relations Director, at (561) 512-8247 or [email protected].   The Rotary Club of Wellington meets every Thursday at 12:15 PM at The Wanderers Club in Wellington, FL.
