Olivia Knowles’s Cocoa Stand raises $2,700 in 2 hours for Grandma’s Place

Eight-year-old Olivia Knowles recently donated $2,700 to Grandma’s Place, which was the money she raised selling hot cocoa at her hot cocoa stand with help from her friends on Dec. 21.  This is her third year doing this. The first year, she raised $163 the second year $826 for a grand total of $3,689!

Grandma’s Place is an emergency shelter in Palm Beach County for abused and neglected kids. About 35 percent of its funding is through fundraising.  Roxanne Jacobs, the Executive Director, said, “Olivia is just absolutely phenomenal. We are amazed at what she can accomplish. If I could clone her, we would not have any financial problems here.  Her donation will go to good use. We will take the kids to the movies or take them out to do something special because I know that she wants to make sure that her donation makes a difference,”

Olivia made a video to share with the community about her one night hot cocoa sale.  “We put out fliers, we put it on Facebook and we did all sorts of stuff,” said Olivia, “I just wanted to make sure that the kids feel safe and loved.”  Olivia is humble and said she could not have done it without the help of her friends. She said they all had jobs to do… from selling cocoa to selling sweets to just having fun.   More good news is that she plans to do her hot cocoa stand again in December of 2019.
