Packy’s Sports Pub Announces $22,000 Donation To Two Local Charities

June 6, 2019

Lighthouse Point, FL – Locally owned Packy’s Sports Pub announced that it will be donating $22,000 to two local charities, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit.

Jeff Jakonczuk, Packy’s Sports Pub owner, will be presenting checks in the amount of $11,000 to both The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and to Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit at an Endowment Event on Friday, June 21st at 2pm at his establishment in Lighthouse Point, FL.

The $22,000 in total donations was raised at a Benefit Concert held at Packy’s on May 26th.  The event was headed up by Meghan Daniels, Packy’s manager, with the assistance of Jennifer Smith, Silvie Bells CEO.  Daniels coordinated performances from five local bands –Bombshell, Furious George, Gypsy Lights, Spektora and White Noise.  The evening included high end silent auctions, raffle prizes, customer sales and private donors.  Jakonczuk advertised that he would be donating 25% of customer sales to the charities and in a surprised turn of events he donated 50% of the evening’s sales!

“It’s an honor for me to be able to use Packy’s Sports Pub as a venue to raise money for a couple of very worthy charities – Silvie Bells and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In the almost 5 years that I’ve owned Packy’s we’ve had several charity events and we’ve made it a part of who we are as a business and people.  We wanted to make this event the biggest in the history of Packy’s and with Meghan Daniels leading the way, we crushed it!!!” said Jakonczuk.

Jakonczuk is not only the owner of Packy’s he’s also a Leukemia and Lymphoma warrior.  He beat the diseases 10 years ago and it has recently reoccurred.  He’s battling Relapsed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and winning the fight against cancer!  The donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter is close to the entire Packy’s family.  The donation will aid in research in cutting edge cures for blood cancers.

The other charity benefiting from the event is Silvie Bells.  This nonprofit’s mission is to give Care Packages and support to families with sick and preemie babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  Jennifer Smith founded the charity to honor her daughter Silvana, who spent her first 49 days in the NICU with a 10% chance of survival.  She promised, if Silvana survived she would do something to pay it forward.  Her daughter made a full recovery and Silvie Bells has grown into a successful nonprofit assisting hundreds of families since its beginning in 2016.

Leukemia and Lymphoma are the most common childhood cancers accounting for 1 in 3 pediatric cancer cases.  Many of the babies in the NICU are fighting these diseases.  This is where The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit come together.  Both Jakonczuk and Smith have a personal stake in the two charities.

The Packy’s Sports Pub Endowment Event will feature Jeff Jakonczuk presenting a check for $11,000 to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and a check for $11,000 to Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit, with photo ops and press coverage.
