On March 1, 2010, Wycliffe Charities hosted its annual fundraising outing. Corporate Sponsors, Wycliffe Charities Supporters, Wycliffe Members and friends all participated in this year’s fundraiser, which raised $60,000 for various Palm Beach County Charitable Organizations. Since its inception in 1993, Wycliffe Charities has donated over $750,000 to local Palm Beach County charitable organizations including: Hospice of Palm Beach County, Home Safe, Caridad Health Clinic, our local Fire Rescue Unit, Palm Beach Habilitation, Mental Health Association of PBC, Amara Transportation, Voices for Children, Hope Project, Quantum House and others.
The next Wycliffe Charities Annual Outing is scheduled for March 2011.

ROYAL PALM ART & MUSIC FESTIVAL JURIED ART AND CRAFT SHOW
ATTRACTS BOTH LOCAL AND OUT OF STATE ARTISTS
Presented by the Wellington Art Society, the first annual Juried Fine Art and Fine Craft Show at the Royal Palm Art & Music Festival will feature the work of local Florida artists as well as artists from as far afield as Maryland. WAS President, Adrianne Hetherington, and her Committee are extremely pleased with the quality of art that will be shown throughout the weekend of the Festival – March 20 and 21 – along Royal Palm Beach Boulevard. The artists will display their work on the banks of beautiful Lake Challenger and be competing for Best In Show, and 1st through 3rd places.
According to Hetherington, “not only do we have a wonderful line up of art, we also have a great line up of judges who will have to make the difficult decision of which talented artists will be awarded the prizes this year.” The judges all hail from Royal Palm Beach and include Harlan G. Hoffman, an instructor at the Armory Arts Center who, after earning his BA from Brooklyn College, N.Y. has enjoyed an extensive career in fine art, showing his work at several galleries in San Francisco and Los Angeles and serving on the faculty of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and the Art Institute of California. Nixie Swift has been active in art education in Palm Beach County for many years, both as an art teacher and later as head of school at Poinciana Day School. Nixie earned her Fine Arts degree from Sienna Heights University in Michigan and during her professional career has judged numerous fine art shows. Gary Webster began his career working as an artist and photo-retoucher for the National Enquirer before earning his BFA from the University of Georgia. He returned to Palm Beach County to work for American Color until his retirement. Since then, Gary has volunteered with the Palm Beach County 4-H mentoring and judging art events with youth competitors. The public is invited to view the Wellington Art Society’s Juried Fine Art and Fine Craft Show during festival hours on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday March 21. All artwork will be for sale.
The Wellington Art Society is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization whose mission is to educate and encourage originality and productivity among its members and area youth through programs designed to further the advancement of cultural endeavors in the western communities. Star of “A Jew Grows in Brooklyn” closes out
Ross JCC CenterStage concert series
with a rockin’, music-filled show that’s bound for Vegas
BOYNTON BEACH — Jake Ehrenreich, the writer and star of the critically-acclaimed, life-affirming, one-man show, “A Jew Grows in Brooklyn,” is branching out.

Ehrenreich, who can sing, dance, deliver a joke, tell a story, and play a variety of instruments well (He played Ringo Starr in the Broadway version of Beatlemania!) has been asked to create a razzle-dazzle song-and-dance act for Las Vegas. He plans to preview his Vegas show when he closes out the Ross JCC Center Stage series at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Park Vista Theatre at Park Vista High School, 7900 Jog Road, Boynton Beach.
“There will be more rocking and less Yiddish, and it will not be as personally and emotionally deep as in A Jew Grows in Brooklyn,” Ehrenreich says. “But it will have the elements of an uplifting show through true stories, lots of humor, and music, and you’ll leave feeling good!”
Ehrenreich has had a whirlwind year, also adding author to his resume. His memoir, “A Jew Grows in Brooklyn: The Curious Reflections of a First Generation American, is set for publication in April by Deerfield-based Health Communications, Inc. (HCI), the company that gave us the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Ehrenreich is also wrapping up a pair of TV projects, one of which includes Rachel Lee of local Fox 29 (WFLX) affiliate as his sidekick.
Tickets for Ehrenreich’s CenterStage shows are $30 and $35 for JCC members, and $37 and $42 for non-members. Group rates are available. Call the JCC box office at 561-736-4751 or 561-740-9000 Ext 201.
The mission of the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Palm Beaches is to create a strong Jewish community by providing high quality Jewish programs close to where people live that connect people to Jewish life.
The JCC is an affiliated agency of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County.
