‘The Best Live Performer I’ve Ever Seen,’ Hails John Mayer
(Delray Beach, FL – May 24, 2021) To add another layer of audience-wowing sizzle to his outdoor concert next Thursday in Delray Beach, jazz/pop recording star Martin Sexton today announced that he will be preceded on-stage by singer/songwriter Jesse Young before showing off his own unique combination of American rock and blue-eyed soul at Old School Square Pavilion this Thursday, May 27, at 8 pm.
The safely pod-centric and socially distanced concert is being produced at Old School Square by T-Presents, House of Parnes, and MusicWorks. Each pod is like a private box that can comfortably accommodate up to four people, with prices starting at $120 per pod. The exclusive VIP Pod ($280) includes four seats and a table, bar service through the app Noble, and the very best views of the stage.
About Martin Sexton:
Widely considered a “musician’s musician,” Sexton started as a street performer in Boston before winning the Artist of the Year Award in 1994 from the National Academy of Songwriters. He has released nearly a dozen albums, including among others Black Sheep (1996), The American (1998), Wonder Bar (2000), Seeds (2007), Sugarcoating (2010) and Mixtape of the Open Road (2015), a musical cross-country trip, blazing through all territories of style, a charm bracelet of 12 gems all strung together with the golden thread of what Rolling Stone calls a “soul marinated voice that can easily be compared to the likes of a young Steve Winwood or Van Morrison.”
The New York Times praised Sexton for his unpretentious ability “to amplify the sound of the ordinary heart,” while Billboard calls him “the real thing, people, a star with potential to permanently affect the musical landscape and keep us entertained for years to come.” Dave Matthews says Sexton is “one of my favorite singers and songwriters,” and John Mayer gushes, “I may just quit my job and go follow Martin and make a fuss everywhere I go, just to make sure that people don’t go their lives without hearing this man sing to them.”
About Jesse Young:
South Florida singer/songwriter Jesse Young may be best known for his debut full length album Heart of Me (2019), and his previous recordings Part Time Rock Star (2017) and Live, Love, Learn (2011). He has opened for such musical superstars as Bon Jovi, Sister Hazel, Jason Mraz, The Steve miller Band, Styx, and more.

Hanley Foundation leadership joined other substance use disorder leaders for a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the Palm Beach County HUB. The new venue will serve as a local resource by and for the community to support people recovering from substance use and behavioral health disorders.
Local political VIPs attended the event, including Commissioners Mack Bernard, Melissa McKinlay and Robert Weinroth, and State Attorney Dave Aronberg, all of whom spoke at the event. John Hulick, Senior Program Manager for Palm Beach County’s Community Services Department for Substance Use Disorders, opened the program with his remarks. Cindy Singer, Staci Katz and Robin Tupper, HUB board members and mothers of loss, were joined by Hanley Foundation CEO Jan Cairnes to cut the ribbon to officially open the HUB.
Located at 2120 W. Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, the HUB provides a safe space where people with substance use and behavioral health disorders are met with compassion and encouragement along their path to recovery. The HUB connects people to services, peer support, recovery coaching, seminars, webinars, and workshops, while carrying out their mission to “empower, connect and advocate for individuals and their families, in all stages of recovery.”
“Anyone who needs help – from job searching to insurance questions – can walk in anytime and get assistance and know they have someone in their corner,” said Cairnes. “The HUB also gives those who use it a better chance of recovery, as support like the HUB is key.
In addition to serving as a sponsor to the HUB’s capital campaign, Hanley Foundation is planning its Recovery Leadership Institute (RLI) series to take place over the summer at the HUB. RLI is a seven-week series of trainings to educate community members and behavioral health workers, hoping to advance efforts in creating equitable outcomes for all individuals impacted by substance use disorder using the Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) model.
Hanley Foundation combats substance use disorders within our communities by raising awareness and providing prevention education programming in schools and communities throughout Florida. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to working alongside community partners to promote healthy lifestyles and positively influence attitudes, norms and values by empowering individuals and families. This year marks the 11th annual Quantum in the Community (QIC) initiative to help local nonprofits working toward a healthier Palm Beach County by meeting the basic needs of residents through food, clothing, shelter, transportation, and more. Starting on June 7, Quantum Foundation will be accepting applications for grassroots nonprofits in Palm Beach County to receive their share of $1 million. Included in this year’s awards is a new Marie Thorpe Above and Beyond Award to be presented to an individual. The deadline for applications is July 30.
To acknowledge the incredible service and sacrifice of so many working to improve Palm Beach County, Quantum Foundation will celebrate a local everyday hero with the 2nd annual Marie Thorpe Above and Beyond Award in memory of staff member Marie Thorpe who served Quantum Foundation for 22 years. The $2,500 award will be presented at the annual QIC breakfast celebration to an individual for their selfless services that go beyond the call of duty as well as their supporting organization. The individual will receive $2500 as will their organization for a total of $5000.
Quantum leaders say the past year has exposed longstanding health inequities as well as the impacts of social determinants of health, especially for grassroots nonprofits. “Health is not simply the absence of illness; it is a positive state of physical and mental well-being,” said Eric Kelly, president of Quantum Foundation. “Our Quantum in the Community program has been addressing the needs of disinvested communities for 11 years. Those communities need us now, more than ever, to continue providing basic needs. Health equity is our way forward.”
A committee of Quantum Foundation staff and board members will carefully consider each application. Strict criteria are set up for those nonprofits applying: • Organization must be registered as a 501(c)(3). • Organization must have been working in Palm Beach County for at least six months. • Annual operating budget may not exceed $500,000. • Organization must provide basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, utilities, or transportation to the county’s most vulnerable residents.
Quantum Foundation is a health foundation that was formed from $135 million in proceeds from the sale of JFK Medical Center. Now in its third decade of community investment, the foundation has assets of approximately $170 million. Since its inception, Quantum Foundation has awarded $150 million to hundreds of Palm Beach County nonprofit grantees. Every dollar the foundation grants stays in the county to benefit local communities.
To learn more about Quantum in the Community, visit the Quantum Foundation website at www.quantumfnd.org. All applications must be submitted using the foundation’s online system by the July 30 deadline. For general information about Quantum Foundation, or to learn about applying for grants, please visit www.quantumfnd.org or call 561-832-7497.

Boasting such classic songs as I Could Have Danced All Night, The Rain in Spain, Wouldn’t It Be Loverly and On the Street Where You Live, MY FAIR LADY tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.” But who is really being transformed?

AN OFFICER AND A GENTLMAN
Based on the Oscar-winning film starring Richard Gere, AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN is a breathtaking production that celebrates triumph over adversity and includes one of the most iconic and romantic endings ever portrayed on screen. Featuring the Grammy Award® winning, #1 hit song Up Where We Belong, and a score based on the 1980’s catalogue of music that gave voice to a generation, the live stage production is a new adaptation by multiple Tony Award® nominee Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Everyday Rapture), based on the original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart. The musical is directed by Scanlanwith choreography by Broadway sensation Patricia Wilcox(Motown, A Night with Janis Joplin). Zack Mayo’s got smarts and a body built for US Navy pilot boot camp, but he also has too much swagger… until he meets a drill sergeant who’s determined to drill his arrogance out of him. Zack finds comfort in the arms of a local factory girl. But it isn’t until tragedy befalls a fellow candidate that Zack learns the importance of love and friendship and finds the courage to be his best self and win the heart of the woman he loves. A sweeping romance that lifts you up where you belong.
