Philanthropic Leader Frances Fisher Joins Palm Health Foundation Board of Trustees
West Palm Beach, FL– October 21, 2019— Frances Fisher, a dedicated servant leader, has joined the board of trustees at Palm Health Foundation, Palm Beach County’s community foundation for health. Mrs. Fisher joins a board of seventeen community leaders chaired by Dr. Alina Alonso, director of the Florida Department of Health for the county.

Mrs. Fisher will work with fellow trustees and staff to advance the foundation’s strategic priorities, including the advancement of brain health, strengthening health professions through scholarships and supporting community based “Healthier Together” initiatives in six underserved communities in Palm Beach County. With her strong philanthropic experience and leadership, she will support the foundation’s mission to inspire and fund solutions for better health in Palm Beach County through community collaboration and will serve on the foundation’s philanthropy committee.
It was through community collaboration that Mrs. Fisher was first introduced to Palm Health Foundation. The foundation has partnered with the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium where Mrs. Fisher is a trustee to bring important health education exhibits to the community, including the permanent Journey Through the Human Brain exhibit. She shares a strong passion for behavioral health with foundation leadership, inspiring her board commitment.
“Frances has connected with us in a deep and personal way around brain health to help us increase our impact in this critical area of health and wellbeing,” said Patrick McNamara, president and CEO of Palm Health Foundation. “We are grateful for the extraordinary leadership she will bring to our foundation.”
Mrs. Fisher’s service to nonprofit organizations in Palm Beach County is vast, including cultural institutions, universities, health and wellness charities and faith organizations. She currently serves as chairman of the board and founding chairman of the Gardens Conservancy at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens; vice president of the board of directors of Hearing Ovarian Cancer Whisper; member of the board of directors at the Palm Beach Civic Association; and an advisory board member of The Most Vulnerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. She has also been instrumental in the advancement of organizations focused on mental health, including the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation, Hope for Depression and the Center for Family Services.
As one of her first leadership roles at Palm Health Foundation, she is serving on the host committee for the Better Brain Health Luncheon on January 16, 2019 at the Kravis Center Cohen Pavilion. The event will benefit the foundation’s Brain Health Innovation Fund that is dedicated to strengthening the local bonds between scientific research, community ties and quality care to transform brain health in Palm Beach County.
“Palm Health Foundation’s vision for bringing together our community’s rich assets and resources to improve the lives of our residents, especially around brain health, is what inspired me to become a trustee,” said Mrs. Fisher. “I am proud to serve alongside my fellow trustees as we work together to grow this innovative and impactful community foundation for health.”

About Ingrid Robinson, Founder, Artists & Charities Hand in Hand:
When Ingrid Robinson heard the news of the sudden death of her only child, Michelle, she fell into a terrible depression. During this dark and mournful period, Ingrid fell victim to a financial fraud, which ultimately caused her to lose her home of 40 years and nearly everything she had. In search of a new life, Ingrid left California and moved to Florida with not much more than her two little dogs. Her tiny apartment in Florida happened to be a part of a community which had an art room in the clubhouse.
At the tender age of 71, Ingrid started painting to fight through her severe depression. Her charming oil paintings gained popularity and it wasn’t long until she was commissioned to create 20 works for a gallery in Delray Beach.
In 2018, Ingrid launched Artists and Charities as a way to help artists showcase and sell their work in a professional fine art show setting, partnering with nonprofits in the community in support of their important work. The organization was founded with her daughter in mind, as Ingrid wanted to ‘shine a light’ on the many positive ways art can help people truly heal.

FEMA Awards Wellington More Than $1 Million in Grant Funds
FEMA Awards Wellington More Than $1 Million in Grant Funds
to Cover Hurricane Irma Clean-up Costs
Wellington is proud to announce that FEMA will reimburse the Village $1,892,200 for the collection, reduction and disposal of debris throughout the Village between September 18 and October 17, 2017. During that time period, Wellington workers and contractors gathered and hauled away 168,602 cubic yards of vegetative debris for landfill disposal. This included damaged tree limbs and stumps that were determined to pose a threat to public health and safety from roads and public property.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved $4,276,104 for the State of Florida to help communities defray the costs of cleaning up after Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.
Wellington is grateful to receive this grant and will continue seeking future funding for Public Assistance to ensure our community can quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies.
Funding for this Public Assistance (PA) project is authorized under Sections 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act for Florida to cover Hurricane Irma-related expenses, reimbursing eligible applicants for the cost of debris removal; life-saving emergency protective measures; and the repair, replacement or restoration of disaster-damaged facilities like buildings, roads, and utilities.
FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program is an essential source of funding for communities recovering from a federally declared disaster or emergency. The Florida Division of Emergency Management works with FEMA during all phases of the PA program and conducts final reviews of FEMA-approved projects.
Applicants work directly with FEMA to develop project worksheets and scopes of work. Following approvals by FEMA and FDEM, FEMA obligates funding for the project.
Another way to stay informed on the latest news and updates from the Village, residents are invited to sign up for Wellington information and updates at www.wellingtonfl.gov/newsletter.
