The ROCKET MAN Show

Simply put—this is Elton! Scotman Rus Anderson is Elton John’s official body double for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour. Hand-picked by the internationally acclaimed singer himself, it was Rus’ own live production of The ROCKET MAN Showthat first got him noticed.

In the show, Anderson recreates the magic and live persona of Young Elton like no other. Storming around the stage with a fun-loving sense of flamboyance; part diva, part soccer player, killer vocalist, fierce piano player, all rock & roller. His painstaking attention to detail includes wearing gorgeous, colorful and spectacular costumes (many worn by Elton) including his iconic boots, glasses and jumpsuits from 1972, as well as a sparkly Swarovski tuxedo from 1984.

The ROCKET MAN Show is a regular feature across the United States at venues such as House of Blues, Hard Rock Live, Caesar’s, Harrah’s, Legends in Concert, BB King’s, Universal Studios and Watl Disney World.

The show is 100 percent live in both vocal and instrumentation. It is a sincere visual, theatrical, funny and interactive show—and it is musically beautiful. There are ballads and driving rock songs. Audiences laugh, cry, sing and dance as they recall the highs and lows of Elton’s legendary concerts.

Remember when rock was young? You will after seeing Rus Anderson in The ROCKET MAN Show on Friday, February 28, 2020, presented by MusicWorks at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

6th Annual Clinics Can Help Golf Classic Raises Over $57,000

Wellington National Golf Club welcomes players to support families in need with a day of sporting fun

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – It was the perfect day of golf and feel good energy as Clinics Can Help (CCH), the West Palm Beach-based nonprofit helping to enable access to healthcare to all through the donation of medical equipment and supplies, hosted their 6th Annual Golf Classic. The event took place on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Wellington National Golf Club and raised over $57,000!

“What an incredible day,” shared Owen O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer.   “I am blown away by the support for our organization through this tournament. It is even more exciting to see how it has grown and evolved since our first year. One of the most touching moments was having Devon Quigley and his mother join us. He is the reason we are here today. “Devon, son of golf great Dana Quigley, was the inspiration behind the Clinics Can Help Golf Classic. Quigley came to the organization following a life changing accident Devon was involved in and the family was in desperate need of equipment for Devon.  Clinics Can Help provided the family with the equipment needed.

Serving as chair of the tournament was CBS 12 News morning anchor Matt Lincoln.  He was helped by a great group of committee members which included Andrea McMillan, Gil Martinez, Pam Swensen, Alan Salomon, Sally Chester, Myk Nelsen, Vic Carlucci and Jon Levy.

In addition to the 18 holes, golfers had a friendly competition to take home prizes for Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, a Putting Contest and Hole in One prize supplied by Arrigo Dodge Jeep Chrysler. Taking home the top prize was the winning foursome of Brandon Rippo, Eric West, Johnny Matute, and Danny German.

Other notable guests in attendance include Miss South Florida Fair Mariluz Cook, Miss Palm Beach County Jessica Fernandez, Village of Wellington Vice Mayor Mike Napoleone, and Village of Wellington Councilman John McGovern.

Proceeds from the Golf Classic support CCH’s KINDER Project, the organization’s program which provides durable medical equipment and supplies, at no cost, to children with special needs. Many of the children in CCH’s KINDER Project are affected by serious medical conditions and would not be able to afford the supplies and equipment that enables them to lead more independent lives.

It is the only organization of its kind in Florida and one of only four in the U.S. that provides a vast and diverse array of equipment.

Packy’s Sports Pub Announces $22,000 Donation To Two Local Charities

June 6, 2019

Lighthouse Point, FL – Locally owned Packy’s Sports Pub announced that it will be donating $22,000 to two local charities, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit.

Jeff Jakonczuk, Packy’s Sports Pub owner, will be presenting checks in the amount of $11,000 to both The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and to Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit at an Endowment Event on Friday, June 21st at 2pm at his establishment in Lighthouse Point, FL.

The $22,000 in total donations was raised at a Benefit Concert held at Packy’s on May 26th.  The event was headed up by Meghan Daniels, Packy’s manager, with the assistance of Jennifer Smith, Silvie Bells CEO.  Daniels coordinated performances from five local bands –Bombshell, Furious George, Gypsy Lights, Spektora and White Noise.  The evening included high end silent auctions, raffle prizes, customer sales and private donors.  Jakonczuk advertised that he would be donating 25% of customer sales to the charities and in a surprised turn of events he donated 50% of the evening’s sales!

“It’s an honor for me to be able to use Packy’s Sports Pub as a venue to raise money for a couple of very worthy charities – Silvie Bells and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In the almost 5 years that I’ve owned Packy’s we’ve had several charity events and we’ve made it a part of who we are as a business and people.  We wanted to make this event the biggest in the history of Packy’s and with Meghan Daniels leading the way, we crushed it!!!” said Jakonczuk.

Jakonczuk is not only the owner of Packy’s he’s also a Leukemia and Lymphoma warrior.  He beat the diseases 10 years ago and it has recently reoccurred.  He’s battling Relapsed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and winning the fight against cancer!  The donation to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter is close to the entire Packy’s family.  The donation will aid in research in cutting edge cures for blood cancers.

The other charity benefiting from the event is Silvie Bells.  This nonprofit’s mission is to give Care Packages and support to families with sick and preemie babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  Jennifer Smith founded the charity to honor her daughter Silvana, who spent her first 49 days in the NICU with a 10% chance of survival.  She promised, if Silvana survived she would do something to pay it forward.  Her daughter made a full recovery and Silvie Bells has grown into a successful nonprofit assisting hundreds of families since its beginning in 2016.

Leukemia and Lymphoma are the most common childhood cancers accounting for 1 in 3 pediatric cancer cases.  Many of the babies in the NICU are fighting these diseases.  This is where The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit come together.  Both Jakonczuk and Smith have a personal stake in the two charities.

The Packy’s Sports Pub Endowment Event will feature Jeff Jakonczuk presenting a check for $11,000 to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Southern Florida Chapter and a check for $11,000 to Silvie Bells NICU Nonprofit, with photo ops and press coverage.

New Awards Honor The Arc’s Service

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – The Arc of Palm Beach County continues to raise the bar in programs and proficiencies, and partners are taking notice. The nonprofit is the proud recipient of the Community Champion Award from the United Way of Palm Beach County and the Financial Organization of the Year Award from AmeriCorps.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized for our lifeworks,” said Kimberly McCarten, president and CEO of The Arc of Palm Beach County. “Receiving these awards from those who have entrusted us with their time and resources, reaffirms that our efforts are truly felt in every corner of our community.”

The esteemed Community Champion Award was given during the Simply the Best Awards ceremony, recognizing a nonprofit that represents the highest standards and ideals that align with United Way’s mission. The United Way has provided funding for The Arc’s programs that empower children and adults with disabilities. The nonprofit has made it a focal point to provide education to achieve greater success in cognitive function, recreational activities to people with disabilities, and group housing to help promote independence. The Arc’s career services promote financial stability, and in-home or center-based respite care helps parents find balance as they care for their child.

“United Way of Palm Beach County is grateful to be a partner in the incredible work that The Arc is doing in our community. Like United Way, their programs were created in direct response to the community’s need for basic services so that everyone can achieve their full potential. The Arc is a champion for individuals in our community with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and it was our honor to recognize them for the significant impact they are making,” said Dr. Laurie George, president and CEO of United Way of Palm Beach County.

Additionally, AmeriCorps founded the Financial Organization of the Year Award for The Arc and its strong financial responsibility. Thanks to a grant from Volunteer Florida, The Arc was able to recruit, train, and engage 27 AmeriCorps students who dedicated 300 to 900 hours of service to form one-on-one relationships with people with disabilities. Throughout the initiative, The Arc exemplified financial excellence, whether it was submitting their monthly reimbursements on time or tendering well-documented expenses.

“This year, there was one organization that we felt was so deserving of recognition, we created the new Financial Organization of the Year Award,” said Tracie Lambright, senior financial analyst for Volunteer Florida. “They have become an exceptional role model for other organizations, and those who are struggling in this area should reach out to them for guidance.”
