Clay Glass Metal Stone Cooperative Gallery

Presents It’s Only Make Be-Weave

Friday, February 15    6PM-9PM

605 Lake Avenue  Lake Worth FL 33460

The Woven Wonders of Gallery Artists

And Invited Artist-Weavers throughout Palm Beach County

Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery celebrates the fine art weavings of kathleen_palm_frond_fantasy_1Mary Catello, Teri Salamoni and Kathleen Kirschner on Friday February 15, 6-9 PM.  The artists have invited Palm Beach County’s finest art-weavers to join them in this exhibition.  The event is free to the public.

Mary Catello and Teri Salomoni, a mother-daughter team of weavers, scavenge the highways and byways of Florida searching for the fallen trees or the piled up trimmings of the palm fluorescents, twigs, fronds and coconut flowers.  Armed with chain-saws and clippers they harvest this “trash,” clean it and dry it in preparation for their woven wonders. With simple math equations and a lot of concentration, sculptures, murals, paintings and baskets appear. Twisted natural vines, yarns and silks, beach gleanings, pods and nubby sticks are all incorporated into these works.  Teri, the chain-saw maven, cuts up fallen trees which she wood-turns into exquisite bowls.  Many of these bowls have woven elements.  Mary teaches basket weaving in the gallery every Monday morning.

Kathleen Kirschner weaves the same natural wonders with whimsy.  Her sculptural creations stand alone or make large wall hangings that bring the outdoors in.  An upholsterer to the stars, Kathleen uses the odds and ends leftovers of the thousand dollar a yard silks to create designer pillows and handbags that are sold in the gallery.

Fiber weavers, loom weavers, basket weavers and tapestry artists from all over Palm Beach County have been invited to partake in this exhibit.  Fine Craft Shows have recognized and elevated these art forms that spring from old Folk Art traditions to Fine Art status. This quality of work will be reflected throughout the gallery during this exhibition.

Clay§Glass§Metal§Stone Cooperative Gallery is sponsored by the Flamingo Clay Studio, a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to provide affordable studio and gallery space for three-dimensional artists.  The gallery is located at 605 Lake Avenue in downtown Lake Worth. Hours are Sunday thru Tuesday, 9AM-1PM. Wednesday thru Saturday, 9AM-9PM.   Gallery openings are the first and third Friday of each month from 6-9 PM with many special events in-between.  For information call Joyce Brown-215-205-9441 or JCLay6@aol.com.  Gallery phone: 561-588-8344.

Maltz Jupiter Theatre celebrates
10th Anniversary Season in splendor with
ITS SOLD OUT 10 Event Gala

Feb. 1, 2013 (Jupiter) – From sparkling gowns and handsome tuxedoes to limousines, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s glamorous, long-awaited 10 Event Gala is almost here!

This unique, never-to-be-repeated gala will take place Feb. 23 (the week of the Theatre’s anniversary) and commemorate the Theatre’s past 10 seasons of extraordinary success. The event will be led by two board members: honorary producer Roe Green and chairman Roberta E. Golub. Tickets are now completely sold out.

The black-tie optional anniversary affair will take place in a glittering tent outside of the Theatre, with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres accompanied by a classical guitarist. Then, curtains will part, revealing a string quartet and a large ballroom set for a gourmet formal dinner, catered by Sandy James Fine Food and Productions. The ballroom will be adorned in voluminous feathers and the colors of silver, white and the “Maltz blue” that has made the Theatre so famous.

“The elegant ballroom will feature stunning crystal chandeliers, sequined linens and spectacular cuisine, with air conditioning and valet parking,” said Pam Dyar, the Theatre’s development associate. “More than 550 guests will join us to enjoy this momentous occasion and celebrate our 10th anniversary season.”

Following dinner, guests will enjoy a magnificent 90-minute retrospective multimedia presentation produced by the Theatre’s producing artistic director, Andrew Kato, showcasing a full 14-piece orchestra and more than 20 stars of the Theatre’s past hit productions. The presentation will be followed by dancing and an array of delicious desserts.

Coordination for the event has taken a year of planning, as the logistics to transport and host all of the visiting artists has been immense. The performers will be flown in from across the country and stay at The Jupiter Beach Resort, with a special gift upon arrival and catered meals from Evo Italian and Jupiter Island Grill. A special breakfast the next morning will be hosted by longtime Theatre supporter Francine Bizar.

“The list of performers is a well-kept secret, and I can promise that it will be a stunning, unforgettable evening, remembered for many years to come,” Kato said. “We’d like to thank everyone who has helped the Theatre reach this milestone, and those who will join us for the next decade of greatness.”

A special thank you to the event’s 10 Grand Benefactors: the Bebe Foundation, Joan and Allen Bildner, Roberta and Harvey Golub, Myra Hoffstein, Peggy and Rick Katz, Chris Kritikos, Pattie and Nate Light, Bonnie Osher, Diane and James E. Perrella and PNC.

The Wellington Chamber of Commerce Welcomes
Triple-A Travel and Insurance As New Members

img_5780The Wellington Chamber of Commerce recently had a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Triple-A Travel and Insurance located at 4075 State Road 7, Wellington, Florida.   The company is a not-for profit, tax paying corporation that provides services to its 53 million members in areas such as automotive, insurance, travel, financial, and discounts. Its national headquarters is in Heathrow, Florida and the company employs 40,000 full-time workers throughout North America.  With more than 53 million members this first American automobile organization has proven to be dependable and reliable business within the communities it serves.

The American Automobile Association (Triple-A) was founded on March 4, 1902 in Chicago, Illinois in response to the limited amount of quality roads and highways suitable for automobiles to drive on safely.  It started with nine motor clubs with a total of 1,500 members that joined together to create Triple A.  Today there are 69 clubs throughout North America and 1,100 offices. The history of Triple-A spans more than 100 years dealing with all sorts of projects.  In early days these included some of the first  road maps, hotel guides, driver and pedestrian safety programs,  school safety patrol programs and even serving the government in times of war.  They are a lot more than just a road-side service.

Kathleen Euler is one of the managers at the Wellington location.  When asked about Triple-A and what makes them stand apart from the rest, she said, “We offer many services here in the Wellington branch.  We specialize in insurance products; personal lines and light commercial.  We also offer travel services like tours and cruises.  We always stand behind our Triple A standards; we’re all about customer service.  That’s how the organization was created and we’re carrying that on.  As people are searching on the internet or in other offices looking for services and prices, we make sure that the customers we are serving are receiving the best possible rates.  Besides representing our own company, we represent other companies also.  These are all A.M. Best rated companies so we will look for that very best rate for our client.”

When discussing the travel services her company offers, Euler said that Triple-A travel agents are well traveled and know what vacation places are like first hand.  In addition, members receive tour books which provide ratings on different hotels and events.  The books also identify hotels that are offering discounts.  “It’s a show- your- card and save thing, which is a great benefit all around.”

In the community, Triple-A is the organization that sponsors the crossing guards at the South Florida Fair and has done so for many years.   In addition, the company has a traffic foundation that is non-profit.  Euler said, “When people renew their memberships, part of those funds go to lobbyists that are able to help work towards different laws that we want to have passed most recently the safety belt law.  We are now working on the helmet law trying to get helmets back on motorcyclists and a cell phone texting law prohibiting texting while driving.  We are doing everything we possibly can to make sure people are safe.  That is our foundation.  Customer service and safety that’s what we’re all about.”

For more information regarding Triple-A, call 561.357.3475 or visit their website at www.aaa.com.  For more information about businesses in the Wellington Florida area, call 561.792.6525 or visit the NEW Wellington Chamber of Commerce website at www.WellingtonChamber.com.
