A Happy Cry

By Denise Marsh

The things that go together naturally.

The sublime taste of sweet chocolate

when the wine has just hit your lips.

The melody caressing your heart.

Every chord dancing in your brain

As you make me remember…

All the smiles.

The love felt.

Lost and found

but never forgotten.

Soft

Bitter

Profound

Simple…

A concoction

Spun into

Fine gold and embossed-

A love letter to yourself

that pleads  to be read and believed.

inSIGHT Through Education Launches “Chesed (Kindness) Social Media Contest” for Palm Beach County Students

0

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – inSIGHT Through Education today announced the launch of the Chesed Social Media Contest, inviting all middle and high school students in Palm Beach County public schools to use their creativity and online influence to stand against antisemitism, bullying, discrimination, or any form of hate.

Inspired by profound acts of kindness (Chesed) that occurred even amidst the immense cruelty of the Holocaust, the contest challenges students to create original social media content that promotes kindness, acceptance, and respect. By amplifying youth voices on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, the contest encourages real change—shaping a culture of empathy both online and in schools.

“The digital space needs an infusion of grace, benevolence, empathy, and compassion,” said Roneet Edrich, Executive Director of inSIGHT Through Education. “This contest empowers the next generation to be the architects of a kinder, more respectful online world. By looking back at lessons of courage during the Holocaust, students can learn how to stand up to hate today and use their online influence to amplify the attributes of grace, benevolence, empathy, and compassion.”

The contest is open to all public middle and high school students in Palm Beach County and students may submit entries individually or as part of a group. The categories for submission include:

  • Short Form Video:
    • Option 1: One video (60–90 seconds long)
    • Option 2: Short video series (three 30-second videos)
    • Videos should be creative, engaging, and able to stand alone as complete stories.
  • Multi-Slide Instagram-Inspired Post:
    • A carousel post consisting of 4–10 slides in portrait (4:5 ratio).
    • Should effectively tell a story or inform on a specific topic through a thoughtful combination of images, graphics, and text.

The contest encourages students to first research and reflect on a true historical account of Chesed from the Holocaust—such as rescuers, hidden children, or small acts of courage—and then translate that lesson into a modern message of kindness, acceptance, and respect relevant to their peers’ lives.

Key Dates:

  • Entry Deadline: All entries must be submitted electronically by January 12th, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.
  • Winners Announced: All winners will be announced on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, January 27th, 2026.

Winning entries will be chosen based on creativity, impact, and engagement in combating antisemitism, bullying, discrimination, or any form of hate with kindness and compassion. Awards and prizes will be granted to top entries in each division and category.

Student Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $1,000 each 4 total winners (2 Middle School, 2 High School)
  • 2nd Place: $500 each 4 total winners (2 Middle School, 2 High School)
  • 3rd Place: $300 each 4 total winners (2 Middle School, 2 High School)

Prize amounts are the same for individual and group entries; group awards are divided among members.

Teacher Prizes:

  • Teachers of 1st Place Winners: $500 each 4 total winners (2 Middle School, 2 High School)
  • Teacher with the Most Student Submissions: $500 2 total winners (1 Middle School, 1 High School)

Building Strong Local Business Partnerships: A Modern Guide to Mutual Growth

0

By Jessica Brody

When you think about the heartbeat of a thriving community, it’s not just about location or infrastructure—it’s about collaboration. Local partnerships can turn simple connections into sustainable ecosystems, where businesses lift each other up instead of competing in isolation.

Local partnerships thrive on trust, shared goals, and consistent communication. Success depends on finding allies who share your values, co-creating opportunities, and contributing meaningfully to your community’s economic fabric.

Why Local Partnerships Matter More Than Ever

In a world that often leans digital-first, the value of in-person relationships hasn’t diminished—it’s evolved. Collaborating with nearby businesses creates a ripple effect that boosts visibility, builds customer trust, and strengthens local economies.

Whether it’s co-hosting pop-up markets, sharing advertising costs, or cross-promoting on social media, joint ventures create win-win situations. A café partnering with a local florist for weekend brunch decor, or a gym featuring smoothies from a neighborhood juice bar—these examples show the power of shared audiences and aligned missions.

(Learn more about small business growth strategies on Shopify’s blog, HubSpot, and SCORE.)

Checklist: How to Build Trust That Lasts

  1. Start with shared values – Look for partners whose mission complements yours.

  2. Set mutual goals early – Define what success looks like for both sides.

  3. Communicate consistently – Schedule regular check-ins to align efforts.

  4. Celebrate small wins – Recognition builds long-term loyalty.

  5. Document agreements – Transparency protects relationships.

  6. Engage your teams – Partnerships work best when everyone’s on board.

(Pro tip: Tools like Trello and Notion can help manage joint tasks and communication threads.)

Learning the Art of Collaboration

To truly master strategic partnerships, a strong foundation in business dynamics helps. Studying topics like organizational behavior, marketing strategy, and leadership can sharpen your ability to nurture and negotiate collaborative relationships.

Programs offering various online business degrees teach essential skills for managing people, projects, and partnerships. These courses provide not just theoretical understanding but real-world frameworks for building alliances that benefit everyone involved—your business, your partners, and the local economy.

How-To: Turning Connections into Collaborations

Here’s a quick approach to go from handshake to synergy:

  • Step 1: Identify your complementary businesses (use your Chamber of Commerce or local Facebook groups).

  • Step 2: Reach out with a specific idea, not just “let’s collaborate.”

  • Step 3: Run a small pilot first—like co-hosting a weekend sale or a limited-edition bundle.

  • Step 4: Gather data from the experiment—customer turnout, engagement rates, and ROI.

  • Step 5: Evaluate and iterate together. Partnerships thrive on feedback.

Product Spotlight: Community Tools That Keep You Organized

It’s perfect for business owners balancing multiple collaborations while keeping daily operations running smoothly.

(You can also explore alternatives like Asana or ClickUp depending on your workflow preferences.)

FAQ: Your Questions, Answered

Q: What if I’m a new business and don’t have much to offer?
A: Offer enthusiasm, visibility, or skills. For example, help with event promotion or share your audience reach—it’s not always about money.

Q: How do I avoid conflicts with partners?
A: Draft simple partnership terms in writing. Set review checkpoints and clarify who owns what.

Q: Should I partner with competitors?
A: Sometimes yes—if your overlap strengthens both businesses (like two bakeries collaborating for a seasonal event).

Q: How do I know a partnership is successful?
A: Track shared goals: new leads, engagement levels, revenue boosts, or community recognition.

Strong partnerships are built on respect, transparency, and shared ambition. Your local community isn’t just your market—it’s your team. By collaborating rather than competing, you weave a network of trust that benefits everyone involved. So start local. Grow together. Build something lasting!

Boys Town South Florida Opens Giving Pantry

0

West Palm Beach, FL – November 2, 2025 – Imagine being a 16-year-old whose world has been turned upside down after losing your older sister to a drunk driver and facing relentless bullying at school. Imagine being a father caring for his wife, who has been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, while trying to comfort a confused six-year-old who doesn’t understand why “Mommy is sick.” Imagine being a single mother working two jobs, struggling to manage three defiant children, and desperately trying to make things better.

These are the faces of the many families served by Boys Town South Florida—families who live and work right here in our community. They are our neighbors, friends, and coworkers — the cashier at the grocery store, the banker downtown, the mom at the PTA meeting.

Each year, Boys Town South Florida helps more than 3,000 at-risk children and families across Palm Beach, Martin, and Broward counties. For families in crisis, hope begins with meeting their immediate basic needs before addressing deeper challenges.

That is why Boys Town South Florida is proud to announce the official opening of its first Giving Pantry, created to provide essential items — such as food, clothing, hygiene kits, baby supplies, toys, and gift cards — to families facing hardship. The goal is simple but powerful: to offer an immediate response to families in need, meeting them where they are and showing compassion in action.

“A small act of kindness speaks volumes and can mean everything for those moments when families are at their lowest,” said Daniela Mesquita, Boys Town South Florida Sr. Development Director – Sites. “Our Giving Pantry allows us to bring comfort, dignity, and hope to the families we serve every day.”

How You Can Help

Community members can make a difference by donating brand-new items year-round, including:

  • Gift cards for gas and groceries
  • Laundry detergent and cleaning supplies
  • Canned goods, pasta, rice, and beans
  • Personal hygiene kits (deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar soap, menstrual pads)
  • Baby items (diapers, wipes, formula, bottles)
  • New clothing for children and adults, including socks and underwear
  • Toys (dolls, cars, balls, puzzles)
  • Household essentials (bedding, towels, pots, and pans)

Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at:
