Phelps Media Group and PhelpsSports.com to sponsor Wellington Chamber

“Kick-Off the Equestrian and Polo Season”

The Wellington Chamber of Commerce is pleased to once again announce our time honored tradition “Kick-Off to the Equestrian and Polo Season” themed luncheon.  This exclusive fourth year event will be held on November 17th at the exclusive Wanderer’s Club.

Speaking on their respective venues and events will be Mr. John Wash of the International Polo Club as well as Mark Bellissimo and Michael Stone from Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC, Mason Phelps from Phelps Media Group and PhelpsSports.com and Noreen O’ Sullivan from Wellington Classic Dressage!!

Sponsoring the event is Mason Phelps– Phelps Media Group and PhelpsSports.com.  As a rider, trainer, event manager, governance leader and charity organizer, Mason Phelps Jr. has spent four decades helping to shape the equestrian industry. With the founding of Phelps Media Group Inc. in 2004, Phelps carved a niche into the world of public relations – equestrian promotions by people who understand the sport, the industry and the lifestyle

As founder of Phelps Media Group Inc. International, Mason Phelps has been innovative in promoting not only his clients but also the equestrian sport industry in general. PMG Inc. represents clients, including horse shows, farms and athletes throughout the country, and keeps a presence nationwide. Staff work from venues in California, New York, Kentucky and Texas as well as the headquarters in Wellington. With the creation of PhelpsSports.com, a subscription-based website, the equestrian world was given an exclusive “channel” for access and promotion.

With a 13,000-name database of equestrian contacts, farm owners, sponsors and media professionals, Phelps’ access to key stakeholders, equestrian industry leaders and potential patrons is unmatched. In 2008, Phelps facilitated the entry of a new equestrian unit into the Rose Bowl Parade – something that hadn’t happened in nearly a century. The new unit was the United State Olympic Equestrian Team. Through a lifetime of involvement at multiple levels, key industry leaders are not just contacts. They are often close personal friends

The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) is considered the most recognizable equestrian sporting venue in America today. It is a 500-acre “Equestrian Lifestyle Destination” nestled in the heart of an 8,000-acre equestrian paradise in Wellington. During the winter season (December-April) Wellington becomes an equestrian mecca, home to more than 7,000 local and visiting horses of all breeds and sporting disciplines including show jumping, hunter, dressage, western/trail riding, driving and polo.

We are thrilled to announce our 2010-2011 season and can promise a first class experience for equestrian competitors and spectators alike.” “Our venue was created to bring together from around the world, the best riders and trainers, and with our team we are producing spectacular equestrian events and providing the highest levels of facilities and services to fulfill our goal of building the top equestrian showcase on Earth.”   WEP’s founding partner, Mark Bellissimo.

International Polo Club Palm Beach is located in Wellington, FloridaSouth Florida’s famed equestrian sports destination.  IPC is a private members club, and home to the Palm Beach Polo Season. Fans flock to IPC for the highest goal tournaments played in the United States, including such prestigious competitions as the USPA Piaget Gold Cup, and the U.S. Open Polo Championship TM.  IPC is considered one of the most prominent and well equipped polo facility’s in the world, attracting the world’s top players, including Aldolfo Cambiaso and Nacho Figueras, and America‘s top rated players led by Julio Arellano, Mike Azzaro, and Nic Roldan.  The 2011 Palm Beach Polo Season runs from January 2nd through April 17th, and offers a variety or ticket and hospitality options, including our luxe field side Sunday Brunch, in our newly built Nespresso Grande Pavilion, viewing options from our private boxes and grand stands, as well as a more casual field side experience in our Wellington Zone and popular tailgating spots. Sunday Polo Tickets start at $15.  For tickets, and more information about International Polo Club Palm Beach, membership and sponsorship opportunities: (internationalpoloclub.com).

” Following our record breaking 2010 polo season, where we welcomed our largest crowds since our inception in 2004, IPC is proud and excited to be a major part of this growing winter equestrian capital of the world, and a driving force behind the equestrian industry’s impact on Palm Beach County.”   John Wash, IPC Club President

Noreen O’Sullivan is the force behind Wellington Classic Dressage at The Jim Brandon Equestrian Center and International Horse Sport Palm Beach at the Equestrian Estates in White Fences. As manager of what has become Florida’s biggest and most popular dressage series, O’Sullivan brings more than 15 years of show management experience to Wellington Classic Dressage. A long-time member of the Gold Coast Dressage Association, and currently president, O’Sullivan helped launch GCDA’s first international CDI competition – the now annual Gold Coast Dressage Association Opener CDI/W. She brings to Wellington Classic Dressage her experience as both a competitor and a show manager, a combination that allows her to understand the needs of both riders and horses and show management. O’Sullivan and her team, including husband and managing partner John Flanagan, will oversee and manage 5 CDI’s including those for Gold Coast Dressage, Wellington Classic Dressage, the Palm Beach Dressage Derby and International Horse Sport Palm Beach, a new venture for the 2011 winter season.

O’Sullivan is working hard to support the growth of dressage in America. Don’t tell her that dressage shows can’t be successful, because she has already proven that statement wrong. “Even during tough economic times, our shows have grown,” O’Sullivan said. “That tells you something about the strength of the sport.” West Palm Beach and Wellington, she believes, are the prime locations for growing the sport of dressage. “We have a huge wealth of talent here, in terms of horses, riders and trainers. It truely is a unique place for equestrians.”

This will be an interactive, fun and educational event discussing our upcoming Equestrian and Polo seasons as well as new and exciting events! This is an event not to miss if you live, work and play in Wellington!

The Wellington Chamber Luncheon will be held on November 17th.  The luncheon begins at 12:00 Noon

FOUNDCARE CITED AS PRIME EXAMPLE OF HOW HEALTHCARE REFORM WILL BENEFIT LOCALLY
Local nonprofit serves Palm Beach County’s growing uninsured and underinsured population

(WEST PALM BEACH, FL)  Guests at FoundCare Health Center learned that the local nonprofit community health center is being cited as a prime example of how plans for healthcare reform will benefit local residents of Palm Beach County.  The event celebrated the announcement of FoundCare’s new Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) Look-Alike status, the first of its kind in Florida, and acknowledged healthcare advocates and supporters who had made the milestone possible.  The keynote for the morning was delivered by Rear Admiral Donald L. Weaver, M.D., Assistant Surgeon General for United States Public Health Service and Deputy Associate Administrator for Primary Health Care, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA.)

“FoundCare is now part of a nationwide network of health centers that delivers high quality healthcare to people who might otherwise go without,” said Dr. Weaver.  “Having access to a health home will make a huge difference for local families who need care.”

When fully operational, FoundCare Health Center will be a full-service health center.  This “one-stop shop” currently offers primary care and preventive services including medical diagnosis and treatment.  Dental services and pharmacy services will be added in the future.

FoundCare Health Center opened its doors to the community in January 2009, and since that time, has provided medical care to more than 2,400 patients, many of whom are uninsured and underinsured.

“With three service providers and additional hours, we have significantly increased the number of new patients treated in 2010,” said Yolette Bonnet, chief executive officer for FoundCare Health Center. “We have the capacity in this building to see more than 10,000 unduplicated patients each year. But we still need to secure additional funding to maximize the use of this state-of-the-art medical home in order for it to include even more providers and equipment.  In the meantime, the Look-Alike status we received helps to position us when we apply for full FQHC status and allows for additional benefits we can pass along to our patients.”

The FQHC Program designates health centers that provide essential primary and preventive health care services to low-income, medically underserved, and vulnerable populations that traditionally have limited access to affordable services and face the greatest barriers to care.

Thanks to the tremendous support from private donors, government grants and a gift of more than $1.8 million over the years from the Quantum Foundation, FoundCare Health Center patients receive affordable access to quality health care and preventive services, regardless of their ability to pay.

“Health care reform is just beginning and the road is a long one, but at the end there will be more access to quality care for all of our residents,” said Kerry Diaz, president of Quantum Foundation. “ Its success, however, depends on our collective efforts over the next few years to make sure the promise of coverage expansion is realized. We plan to build on our significant investments in community clinics to help them and boost the broader safety net in Palm Beach County. FoundCare is one solution to overcoming the inequalities in care that exist today.  Quantum understands that the hard work of matching people to quality health care happens on the community level, and we are thankful and proud to be a partner in making those connections possible.”

Of FoundCare’s current patients, 77 percent do not have any health insurance, and they visited FoundCare an average of nearly three times per year for health concerns ranging from hypertension to diabetes, infectious disease, asthma, obesity, women’s health and other specialty care.  More than 70 percent have incomes below the federal poverty level and they range from the age of infancy to 84-years-old, nearly two-thirds of which are female.

“With the gracious support of Quantum Foundation, other donors, and state and local healthcare advocates, we’ve been able to initiate core services while preparing to apply for federal support as a Federally Qualified Health Center,” said Bonnet.  “FoundCare will continue to serve all patients, specifically the uninsured and underinsured.“
