ASTROLOGY AT WORK IN YOUR LIFE

November, 2010Karola Crawford

By Karola Crawford

Happy Birthday Scorpios!  You get to celebrate most of this month on your own, and then share the last week with your fellow Sagittarians.  This is a powerful combination for the month of November and credit is due to each sign for the unique qualities that are totally different and yet you both have a lot in common.

Scorpio owns most of this month and in many ways you may be the most powerful sign in the Zodiac.  Your ruler is Pluto and Mars is strong in your personality.  You deal with the process of fundamental transformation on all levels, and whether you are dealing on the high or low plane totally depends on your degree of evolution and motivation for the change.  As a rule you strive to improve the status quo.  You possess will, power and intense emotional desires, and since you have such a strong force to catapult you forward into whatever it is that you desire, it is of utmost importance that what you seek is truly what you want.  Getting on the proper course from the start is extremely important here.  You don’t deal with any life matters on a superficial level and it is important that you do not overwork yourself as you seek perfection in all details.  You have incredible staying power, and will ardently defend justice if you are a highly developed Scorpio.  It does not matter how much effort and sacrifice is required to see a matter through to the end, for you will stick it out.  You have strong recuperative powers, and at times you seem almost miraculous with your accomplishments.

Although you Scorpios usually do not like to see weakness in others, or in yourself, you are often generous and compassionate and will extend yourself to help someone else in need.  You do expect, however, for the individual to help themselves and to stand independently once you have given them a helping hand.

Nature is the force that regenerates you and you have the ability to tap deeply into its secrets and endless mystical powers.

You make friends easily, and they can be from all walks of life.  You give unwavering loyalty to your friends, but sometimes you use the double standard to find out everything about your friends without giving out much information about yourself.

You are capable of extreme self-sacrifice for those that you love, and will defend them with your whole being.  You are very hard to deceive and your intuition causes you to understand the motives of other people.  Though you are quiet and calm on the surface, your emotions are bubbling strongly underneath.  You love life!

In love you are extremely affectionate and demonstrative and are happiest with one partner with whom you can combine emotional and sexual love.

This month you have the ability to plan adventures and trips are favored.  Your sense of travel is heightened, and your organizational abilities are keen.  Discussions can become quite deep and special, magnetic relationships can start during this month.

Sagittarius is not to be forgotten, though you get only a portion of this month for yourself.  Born under Jupiter, you are the sign of honesty and straightforwardness, and you love liberty and freedom.  You are naturally energetic and outgoing, and your goals are achieved through positive thinking.

It is natural for you to think deeply and seriously, and you are concerned with the well being of society as a whole, as well as with your own lives.  You place the spiritual law, and the ethics to which you subscribe, above personality.   You are generous, honest and just, and idealism is strongly marked in your being.  Under the zeal of truth you can blurt out just what you are thinking, though there is not a “get even” edge to what you have to say.  Your approach to life is usually not subtle, and you have the ability to see the future, with your insights bordering on prophecy.  You have a great desire to know, to experience, to try your wings and to have excitement through adventure.  You travel in your mind and physically, and your creativity is high.

You are usually interested in sports and anything that allows you to move your bodies.  Long walks are a favorite, as it allows for the feeling of freedom.  The creation of heat through movement and activity is personified by your planet Jupiter.  You search for the meaning of life and can easily overextend yourself with too many activities.  Balancing the right amount of activity with time to rest and sleep is of utmost importance.

Friendliness, helpfulness and subtle humor are some of your trademarks, and you love a good conversation.  Consequently you have friends all over the world, and can be counted on to be loyal and honest, for there is nothing manipulative or devious in your nature.

You are independent with a high need for personal freedom, and can experience claustrophobia if you have a room without a window or feel closed in.

In love you are highly romantic, and flirtatious, but want an intelligent partner to converse with.  You are great at planning, though you may overlook small details, and your memory is excellent.  If you are disciplined, you are capable of great things.

This month is great for meditating or travelling to water.  You feel energized and ready to make an emotional, as well as a spiritual, commitment.

PRESCHOOLERS AND PARENTS ARE INVITED TO A HEALTHY, HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Florida Public Health Institute and the South Florida Science Museum collaborate-

As an option to a bag full of candy, future tooth decay and a tummy ache, the Florida Public Health Institute, in collaboration with the South Florida Science Museum, is inviting preschool children to Trick or Treat in costume at the Museum on Wednesday, October 27th, at a special Halloween celebration, created just for them.

(L-R) Lew Crampton, chief executive officer at the South Florida Science Museum, Donovan and Logan LaChance, Ian Holt and Debora Kerr, Assistant Director at the Florida Public Health Institute.
(L-R) Lew Crampton, chief executive officer at the South Florida Science Museum, Donovan and Logan LaChance, Ian Holt and Debora Kerr, Assistant Director at the Florida Public Health Institute.

In observance of “Healthy Mouth. Healthy Body” – the new public campaign created by the Florida Public Health Institute and the Oral Health Coalition of Palm Beach County – preschoolers and their parents will have free admission to the Museum from 9 to 10 a.m. and will be treated to a healthier way to celebrate Halloween.

In addition, preschoolers and their parents will have access to all exhibition space at the Museum, including the new “Animal Grossology” exhibit, which takes solid science information and incorporates it into interactive entertainment that translates into big fun while learning.

“We are looking forward to this special day for preschool children and their parents at the South Florida Science Museum,” announced Debora Kerr, Assistant Director of the Florida Public Health Institute.  “Dental disease, such as cavities can lead to other medical complications as well as difficulty eating, costly dental visits and missed school hours. In fact, dental decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood and is five times more common than asthma. You can protect yourself from decay and other medical complications, as decay is almost entirely preventable.”

At the Healthy, Happy Halloween celebration, preschoolers and parents will be offered Trick or Treat alternatives to candy, and will learn the importance of maintaining good oral health.  Special entertainment and giveaways are included in the celebration.

“The South Florida Science Museum is delighted to participate and host this healthier version of Halloween,” added Lew Crampton, Chief Executive Officer of the Museum.  “This program on maintaining good oral health is a perfect complement to the Museum’s early childhood classes.  If we can reach children about health issues at an early age, we are all better for it.  And by creating this celebration just before Halloween, the South Florida Science Museum and the Florida Public Health Institute are providing Palm Beach County preschoolers with a safe and happy alternative to the Halloween tradition.”

Museum admission will be free until 10 a.m. and includes access to “Animal Grossology,” the blockbuster exhibition on display at the Museum. More information on the event is available by calling the South Florida Science Museum at 561.832.1988.

At the first meeting with the 4th and 5th graders at the Wynnebrook Elementary After Care Program

Elks Lodge #1352 and the Wellington Garden club are partnering in a program to involve elementary school youth at Wynnebrook and Washington Elementary schools in the planting, maintaining and consuming vegetables that they grow themselves.  The first session involved tasting a variety of heirloom organic tomatoes provided by Whole Foods Wellington and planting various types of tomato seeds. The children learned about determinate versus indeterminate tomatoes, how hours of sunlight effect the time of harvest and how certain varieties produce different size fruits, some earlier than others.

Future meetings will involve a nutrition lesson and easy to use recipes for the children to take home and use when they begin harvesting, learning the ingredients that go into pizzas that they will grow themselves and then sampling the types of vegetables and pizza.  In a few weeks they will walk to the large garden plot developed at the Elks and transplant the tomatoes they have grown and plant seeds of vegetables such as spinach, leaf lettuce, bush and pole beans, peas, collard greens, cucumbers, radishes, carrots, eggplant and herbs such as basil and oregano.

Pictured are Elks member Bill Hopkins, Wellington Garden Club members Kathy Hernicz and Barbara Hadsell and Tim Hadsell, who is both an Elk and a Wellington Garden Club member.  Uma Bhatti, Wellington Garden club, was the photographer.
