Program encourages customers to reuse shopping bags by offering charitable incentive


During the fall program, Donate your Dime, in place now and running through January 16, 2011, customers who bring their own shopping bags to the Whole Foods Market in Wellington can choose to donate a refund of 10 cents per bag to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, or the Whole Planet Foundation.

 

FAU Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, one of the oldest nature centers in the nation, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.  Pine Jog serves over 25,000 students, 750 teachers and 12,500 adults & families annually from Palm Beach County and surrounding counties through its field trip and schoolyard programs, summer camps, and special events. One of Pine Jog’s new initiatives is the Palm Beach County Green Schools Recognition Program which honors schools that are working to create cultures of sustainability.  Proceeds from the “Donate Your Dime” will go to support this initiative and other Pine Jog programs.  Please visit www.pinejog.fau.edu for more information.
