WHAT:          Kretzer Piano presents the “Music for the Mind” concert series to benefit music education in our schools.  Held on the third Tuesday of every month in the Harriet Himmel Theater at CityPlace, these concerts feature musical/performance groups from Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

 

 

 

WHO:             Street Beat, Inc.

Founded in 1996 by Kenneth and Nerissa Jackson, Street Beat (SBI) is critically-acclaimed for its efforts to train youth to become self-reliant, by focusing on personal development through discipline and the arts. Based in South Bay, FL, Street Beat has performed for Russell Simmons at his annual Rush Foundation Charities Event, the Muse Awards at the Kravis Center, Orange Bowl Half-Time Show, has presented/hosted several Annual Showcases in addition to performing for numerous organizations locally, regionally and internationally. Street Beat’s Choreographer/Artistic Director, Shanique Scott creates choreography that infuses Hip-Hop, Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical movements to the latest contemporary gospel tunes. 

Street Beat is the Glades “Best Kept Secret” offering Dance, Music, Academics, and Life Skills!!! Ages are: 5-12 yrs old. Street Beat offers a teen program in the summer months. Ages:12 and up. 

 

WHY:   Since its inception, the Music for the Mind concerts series has given over 7,200 young musicians the opportunity to perform and has raised over $184,000 for music in the schools.  All funds from this month’s concert will go to Street Beat (SBI).  Street Beat’s work in the Glades and abroad  has been celebrated by the children they have served, appreciated by the parents and friends, and recognized by local and international leaders, schools, and the press as outstanding.

 

TICKETS:      $10 for adults and $5 for students.
