Royal Palm Beach, FL – September 16, 2013

ACTIVE PUBLIC SERVICE

Martha Webster has lived and worked throughout Palm Beach County for 47 years, living in the Village of Royal Palm Beach for the past 17 years. During that time she has worked to make a difference in the community in her personal, professional, and elected positions.

Most know her for the past 5 years of service as the Royal Palm Beach Councilwoman where she was a strong advocate for the citizens of the Village, representing RPB as the Vice Chair of the PBC League of Cities, Vice Chair of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, and as a member of the PBC Metropolitan Planning Organization. She was a strong advocate for fiscal restraint, active in representing Villagers in updating code ordinances to better serve the residents’ needs, championing improved roadways, and supporting small businesses throughout the Village. Her public service also includes a year as the chair of the RPB Community Revitalization Advisory Board and 6 years as the Vice Chair of the City of Greenacres Planning & Zoning Commission.

COMMUNITY COMMITMENT

Before entering public service, Martha was a member of many community policy boards that worked to better communities in the area. Some of her community service throughout the past 20 years includes currently serving on the Central Palm Beach Chamber government affairs, economic, and Farm City committees; past member of the PBC Homeless Coalition, PBC Affordable Housing Coalition, and PBC Health Care District PATCH Board; Habitat for Humanity; and Glades Interagency Network Board.

Her professional career allowed her to play a strong role in strengthening families as the Family Nutrition Administrator and PBC 4-H Administrator working for the University of Florida in PBC, Director of Community Initiatives with United Way of PB, and Director of Housing and Education with Consumer Credit Counseling of PB.

Martha is a retired tenured faculty of the University of Florida IFAS living in the Village of Royal Palm Beach with her husband, Gary, a military veteran and retired graphic artist with the National Enquirer.
