Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved peoples in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
Synergy Camp, Inc presents the First Annual Heart of the Arts celebration of Juneteenth with an Arts and Music Festival on J Street in Downtown Lake Worth Beach. The festival celebrates emancipation of enslaved African Americans, their community struggles, resilience and achievements. The festival will bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, promoting freedom and unity.
Among the perfomers on the outdoor and indoor stages of Rudy’s Pub, 21 South J Street, are a diverse lineup of local artists and performers will be featured, including Huey Hampton, a talented Hip-Hop Duo, Grammy-Nominated Musician and Producer Ray “Quasi” Nelson, Alkebulan Music Philosophy- African Drum Group, and performing artist Terrion Nelson. These exceptional musicians, dancers and visual artists will showcase the rich talent within our community, delivering unforgettable, inspiring performances.
On Sunday, June 18, Sara Gayoso will begin her Juneteenth window mural, completing it during the festival on the nineteen. This will be the last mural of the season at Flaming Clay Studio.
The Festival includes a curated marketplace with handmade crafts, unique artworks and products celebrating African American culture. This exhibition features artist BLJ, famous in the region for his graphic artwork, clothing and more. This visual art exhibition showcases the vibrancy and creativity of African American artists. Look for them in the Festival Tents outside the Flamingo Clay Studio Gallery, 15 South J Street.
Juneteenth is an inclusive event welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds. Synergy Camp joins with Arms of Hope, Flamingo Clay Studio. Healthier Lake Worth Beach, Rudy’s Pub and The Bamboo Room in extending gratitude to sponsors and community supporters for making this event possible. They celebrate a commitment to unity, diversity and cultural appreciation, invaluable to the success of the Juneteenth Festival.
About Synergy Camp: synergy camp is a 501C3 nonprofit organization. Its mission is to inspire, inform, and innovate students in the performing arts. Synergy’s core foundation is a comprehensive and immersive curriculum in percussion and music education, encompassing diverse learning modules and practical training. We provide a safe space for students to discover and express their true selves, while addressing the immediate need of shifting students’ mindset from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. Students have access to established musicians, producers, managers, and entrepreneurs who share experiences and fundamental information on what it takes to become become successful in the music industry. Since 2015, synergy has provided over 300 students with an opportunity to experience one of the most innovative music camps in Florida.
