Wellington will join cities across the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from Monday, October 18th through Sunday, October 24th, 2021.
Florida City Government Week is a statewide celebration to raise public awareness about how their city operates, the services that cities provide, and the importance of their active involvement.
The theme “My City: I’m Part of It, I’m Proud of It” will guide this year’s activities.
“We are excited about Florida City Government Week and hope to engage the entire community,” said Village Manager Jim Barnes. “This is a great opportunity to foster Village pride and help our residents become more informed about the many services we provide, which will lead to more knowledgeable participation in the future.”
Wellington strives to provide civic engagement opportunities for residents of all ages through programs like Read for the Record, and the Civics 101 program which brings high school students to Village Hall and gives them a first-hand look into their local government.
Florida City Government Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, is a time to showcase cities and recognize the significant role played by city government in the lives of its residents. The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida, designed and established to meet and serve the needs of Florida’s cities and their residents.
The Village encourages residents to take an active part in promoting our Great Hometown through civic education.
