21st Annual Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic at Lake Wellington
Grab your fishing tackle and get ready to reel in “the big one” at the 21st Annual Children’s Holiday Fishing Classic on Saturday, December 17th at the Wellington Community Center Dock at 12150 Forest Hill Boulevard. This free fishing tournament is presented by Wellington in conjunction with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission and is open to all local children ages 15 and younger. Registration opens at 8:00 am at the dock and pavilion area on Lake Wellington with the tournament to follow from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Participants are allowed to cast their lines from the dock and surrounding shore (no boats please). The awards and fish tales follow from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place (based on the total weight of fish caught and released) in each age group: 6 and under; ages 7 to 9; ages 10 to 12; and ages 13 to 15.
Each child who participates in the tournament will receive a free gift from Gambler Lures. Parents are encouraged to attend and watch the excitement, but no one over the age of 15 is allowed to fish or assist the children in fishing other than to help bait their hooks and remove their catches.
