Inaugural Project Graduation Golf Tournament Raises Over $8,000 Funds Will Help Support Drug- and Alcohol-Free Graduation Night Party For Wellington HS Seniors

Wellington, FL – By all measures, the first-ever fundraising golf tournament in support of Wellington’s Project Graduation was a tremendous success.  The event brought in over $8,000, which will help offset the cost of a graduation-night party for seniors at Wellington High School .

The winning team, with a score of 58, included Larry Bennett, Kaci Bennett, Jeffrey Greer and Joe Pauldine.  The winners of the closet-to-the-pin contest were Ann Abadessa (women’s) and Milko Castellanos (men’s).  The men’s and women’s long-drive champions of the day were, respectively, Sy Kotalik and Allison Parssi.  Both Ms. Bennett and Ms. Parssi were members of the WHS girl’s golf team, which advanced to the state finals this year.

HONORARY CHAIR: Mario Crocetti – Principal, Wellington High School . CO-CHAIRS: Susanne Bennett, Jeannette Parssi. PLANNING COMMITTEE: Donna Baxter, Missy Cheatham, Lili Jochem, Anne Kimmey, Sheri Hayward, Cindy Lutz, Milagros Rivera, Robbin Roscigno, and Annette Sheehan.

“We want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped make this happen,” said Susanne Bennett, “including all of our golfers, sponsors, auction contributors, volunteers, and Binks Forest Golf Club, for helping make this event a success!  We hope it will continue to grow in the years to come.”

WHY HOLD A GRADUATION NIGHT PARTY?

The 2012 Senior Class will soon graduate and move on to college and careers, and the Project Graduation committee would like to send them off with a fun and safe party on graduation night.

Following a longstanding tradition, the committee invites all graduating seniors to PROJECT GRADUATION – a safe, alcohol-free graduation night party that ensures a fun and safe time for all graduating seniors.  The cost to attend is $10 per student, and parents are being asked to help defray the cost of the event by donating $20.12 to the cause. Donations, along with payment for event tickets, can be sent to Wellington High School 2012 Project Graduation, P.O. Box 1453 , Loxahatchee FL 33470

Unfortunately, each April and May, teenage alcohol and drug-related accident fatalities spike – in big part as a result of unsupervised graduation celebrations gone bad.

A parent-supervised, all-night, alcohol-free/drug-free party is the committee’s attempt to combat those scary accident statistics.  The Project Graduation party starts at around 10pm on graduation night and the fun continues until almost 5 am.  Our graduates will be entertained all night by a DJ, huge inflatable games/rides, a hypnotist, casino games and much, much more.  Food and drinks are served throughout the night.

NEXT FUNDRAISER JAN. 31 AT WHOLE FOODS

The Project Graduation team invites everyone to join them for a wine, beer and food tasting at Whole Foods on January 31 from 5:30-7:00pm.  Tickets will be sold in advance for $10 each.  More information on this event coming soon.
