December, 2015-Wellington Extends its Gratitude

Volunteers worked diligently on Friday, November 20th putting together bags with all of the items for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. More than 150 bags were prepared to feed families of varying sizes, from 2 to families of 12.

Through the coordination and efforts of Wellington InterFaith and the Village of Wellington, this year’s Hometown Holiday Food Drive turned out to be a huge success. Once again, the community rallied and made it possible for over 150 local families to receive a gift card for a ham or turkey and all of the fixings for a traditional thanksgiving meal including homemade pumpkin bread. Funding for the gift cards came from Wellington’s faith based organizations (InterFaith) and residents. All of the food items were donated by our residents, partners, and community businesses.

As usual, our donations exceeded our need and 10 large boxes of excess miscellaneous food items were given to migrant worker charities and Oasis Compassion Agency for distribution to those in need throughout the county.

We are extremely grateful for everyone’s assistance with this project. It is truly amazing to see what our community can accomplish when we work together.

Thank you to all.
