January, 2015- Wellington Seeks Volunteers for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Service Project

Wellington’s Community Services Department is looking for youth volunteers to participate in a service project for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Volunteers will have an opportunity to earn community service hours by beautifying the Wellington Dog Park through painting the restrooms and spreading mulch. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot early by contacting Meridith Tuckwood at 561-753-2476 or mtuckwood@wellingtonfl.gov.

In 2015, residents across all 50 states delivered meals, refurbished schools and community centers, and collected food and clothing. Volunteers also recruited mentors, supported job-seekers, built homes, provided other services for veterans and military families, and helped residents improve their financial literacy skills.

Last year, the MLK Day of Service inspired hundreds of thousands of Americans to come together to make 2015 a Year of Citizen Action, and we hope to inspire our youth to continue to serve their community in 2016.
