KRAVIS CENTER GALA SUPPORTERS TO ENJOY DINNER PARTY AND PRIVATE PERFORMANCE BY ALAN CUMMING

CEO Judith Mitchell’s 30 years of service to performing arts center to be honored at January 30Gala 

 

(West Palm Beach, Fla.) –The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is known for bringing legendary, award-winning artists to the stage for its annual Gala and this year is no exception. On Saturday, January 30, 2021, guests will be treated to a private dinner performance by Scottish-American Tony Award winning singer, actor, comedian, writer, and filmmaker Alan Cumming. This season’s re-imagined Gala will be an enchanted evening Chaired by long-standing Kravis Center supporters Monika Preston and Kathryn Vecellio. Honorary Chairs are Christine and Bob Stiller. Kravis Center CEO Judith Mitchell, who is retiring at the end of 2020 after more than 30 years of service, will be the evening’s Special Honoree.

“Nonprofits in Palm Beach County have suffered through the past year’s pandemic, especially the cultural sector,” said Kathryn Vecellio. “Although the Kravis Center’s stage in Dreyfoos Hall is still dark, Monika Preston and I look forward to coming together in a safe way with Gala guests to celebrate the arts and toast to the Kravis Center’s future success. Every year, the Kravis Gala is one of the most entertaining events of the Palm Beach season and we are excited for this season’s dinner performance with global superstar Alan Cumming.”

 

Immediately upon arrival, guests will be escorted into the magically transformed Gimelstob Ballroom in the Cohen Pavilion. They will be treated to world-class service and enviable cuisine by Catering by The Breakers at the Kravis Center, with an exclusive performance by Cumming. As the only person to hold the CEO title for the not-for-profit performing arts center, Ms. Mitchell will be honored during the evening.

 

“For more than three decades, Judith Mitchell has been a truly outstanding leader who has turned the Kravis Center into an economic catalyst to the region,” said Jeffrey Stoops, Kravis Center Board Chairman. “Her contributions to the Kravis Center and our community over her 30 years of service have been truly extraordinary, and we look forward to recognizing her incredible vision, exceptional service, and remarkable leadership.”

 

Cumming, the 55-year-old Tony Award winning actor, has entertained fans around the world with his multi-platinum albums and DVDs, electrifying live performances and comedic film and television appearances. His London stage appearances include “Hamlet,” “Accidental Death of an Anarchist,” and “Bent,” among others. On Broadway, he has appeared in “The Threepenny Opera,” “Design for Living,” “Cabaret” as the master of ceremonies, as well as a one-man adaptation of “Macbeth.” His best-known film roles include “Emma,” “GoldenEye,” the “Spy Kids” trilogy and “X2.” He has appeared in the TV shows “Instinct” as well as “The Good Wife,” for which he was nominated for three Emmy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Cumming has also written a novel, an autobiography, sang in concert halls across the globe and has had a cable talk show.
