Actors With a Clue! Turning the Economy Around One Laugh at at Time
Picture 80+ people hustling about and doing tricks in the pouring rain throughout Pineapple Grove in downtown Delray about a week before Halloween, 2009—and loving it.
The “Pilfering of Pineapple Grove” scavenger hunt was an idea to coincide with Art & Jazz on the Avenue, cooked up by Actors With a Clue!, a professional acting troupe that creates interactive entertainment for a variety of groups. The members of the group have over 30 years combined stage and screen experience, and are experts at improv and comedy.
Now, in 2011 with the economy still teetering, Actors With a Clue! wants to let South Florida restaurants and social organizations know that putting on a murder mystery or similar show is one of the best ways to drum up much-needed business.
“Nearly all of our shows are paired to a food theme, so it’s pretty easy and affordable for restaurants to come up with a complementary menu,” says Lori Dolan, an Actors With a Clue! Managing Member and PR professional. “We can help build a show and menu that will sell. It’s a great business tool that can be used all year long. Plus, we accept credit cards, so if you’d like to build reward points AND throw a unique surprise birthday or anniversary bash…whatever you want…we can make that happen.”
The troupe, which performs all over Florida, has ready-made shows that employ suspecting (and sometimes non-suspecting) audience members; and they can custom-write an evening or afternoon of entertainment if necessary. They’re also fully contained and bring the sound system, costumes, props—everything needed for a fun, laugh-yourself-silly time. Actors With a Clue! also has themed shows for major events like Christmas/Hanukkah, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween and more. Just a couple of weeks ago, they performed a custom dinner show at a prestigious Ft. Lauderdale club to rave reviews from the participants; they have an exciting, new St. Patty’s Show coming up March 15th.
