The Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County Invites the Public to Three Fun & Informative Horticultural Events in May

+ Connoisseur Garden Tour – May 9 & 10

(West Palm Beach, FL – April 9, 2015)  The Friends of Mounts Botanical Garden will be hosting three fun, horticulturally informative and family friendly public events during May 2015.
Connoisseur Garden Tour
A Mother’s Day Weekend Tradition
Saturday, May 9 — 10 am to 4 pm
Sunday, May 10 – 11 am to 4 pm
$20 for members; $25 for nonmembers
Spend Mother’s day weekend with your family and friends touring eight exceptional private gardens: one each in Delray Beach, North Palm Beach and Royal Palm Beach and five beautiful gardens in West Palm Beach. The owners of each individual garden are giving people a unique opportunity to visit at their own pace and sequence, so take one day or two for this memorable self-guided tour.
Mounts Botanical Garden Book Discussion Series
Tuesday, May 12 – 7 to 8:30 pm
Clayton Hutcheson Complex – Conference Room

In partnership with the Palm Beach County Library System, this new series provides an opportunity for book and garden enthusiasts to meet together to experience exciting fiction and non-fiction titles related to all aspects of gardening and horticulture. The featured book in May will be The Samurai’s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama.
Tillandsia Living Curtains
Saturday, May 23 – 10 am to 1 pm
Mounts Auditorium
$50 for members; $60 for nonmembers
Speaker: Polly Reed, President of the Friends of Mounts Botanical Garden
In this hands-on presentation, Ms. Reed will demonstrate and teach how to create a tillandsia living curtains. Commonly referred to as air plants, tillandsias can be utilized to create curtains that hide not so lovely views, filter light, purify the air, and add living artwork to any living space. Participants will discover the natural beauty of a hanging living garden.
