Andrew Kato is celebrating his 20th season at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre as the Producing Artistic Director/Chief Executive. During his tenure, he has produced over 95 productions and subscriptions have grown to over 7,000 patrons. Overall attendance has grown to nearly 100,000 guests annually, securing the Theatre to be one of the most successful regional theatres in the southeast. He was the Creative Consultant/Coordinating Producer on the Tony Awards® for 13 years, and his Broadway credits include Jelly’s Last JamAngels in America and the off-Broadway production of Cryptogram. In addition, he conceived and developed several musicals, including Switch!Academy1001 NightsStreet SongsDiva DiariesThrough the Looking Glass, and Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors, which made its off-Broadway debut in September 2023.

+ Elizabeth Dimon has been part of South Florida’s theatre community for more than 30 years. She is a member of Actors Equity, SAG, and is a multiple Carbonell Award winner. Recent credits include Family Tree (Ronnie Larsen Presents/Plays of Wilton), Rooted (Theatre Lab at FAU), A Christmas Carol (Maltz Jupiter Theatre), Into the Woods (Slow Burn Theatre Company), and A Doll’s House, Part II (GableStage). She has also performed at Palm Beach Dramaworks, Florida Stage, The Wick Theatre, Florida Stage, and more.

+ Angie Radosh recently had starring roles in Hello Dolly (Broadway at LPAC), the world premiere of La Shonda (Ronnie Larsen Presents/Plays of Wilton), and Boeing Boeing (Boca Stage at Delray Beach Playhouse). A three-time Carbonell Award winner and recipient of a Silver Palm Award, she also appeared in Exit The King (Palm Beach Dramaworks), Cabaret (Maltz Jupiter Theatre), Suddenly Last Summer (Island City Stage) Mothers and Sons (GableStage), and Funny Girl, Beauty and the Beast, and The Music Man, all at The Wick.

+ Karen Stephens, a longtime member of the South Florida theatre community, has played pivotal roles in several productions over the last few seasons including Clyde’s at Zoetic Stage, The Cancellation of Laura Fein (Palm Beach Dramaworks), Time Alone (Boca Stage), Matilda (Slow Burn Theatre Company), and Dorothy’s Dictionary (Theatre Lab). Wisdom Warrior Challenge Community Team Race Set for March 8, 2025

A free track event opened to the public for adults aged 50+

Palm Beach County – Join the Wisdom Warrior Challenge, a Florida-based nonprofit dedicated to age-inclusive track races, at the community-friendly “Freelancers” race on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Duncan Middle School, 5150 117th Ct N, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, or use their mobility device on the track, with distances ranging from 50 meters to 1 mile.

The “Freelancers” race will feature community teams and individuals, who will compete and celebrate being vibrant 50+ athletes in our community. The Wisdom Warrior Challenge encourages seniors to stay active, socialize, celebrate their vitality, and challenge the myth that aging means slowing into a sedentary lifestyle. To ensure everyone can join, the Challenge is designed with a focus on inclusivity, by offering specific divisions for participants using assistive equipment such as canes, walkers, or wheelchairs.

Additionally, participants in the Challenge will receive swag bags, prizes, and a 90-day fitness program to kick-start their health and wellness journey. Children, families, and friends are encouraged to cheer on the team with fun activities available for kids during the race. Attendees of the race are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m.

The Wisdom Warrior Challenge is made possible through the commitment of sponsors. The founder, Linda Borgmeyer MSK, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist with a master’s in kinesiology, specializing in geriatric exercise science, and the owner of Novoleo Therapy and Fitness in North Palm Beach. The nonprofit is dedicated to supporting seniors in Florida communities and helping them feel empowered. This passion is what motivated her to create the Wisdom Warrior Challenge.

Boys Town Experts Teaching Kids Respect and Resilience in Challenging Times

Palm Beach & Broward County, FL (February 6, 2025) – As society continues to evolve and face new challenges and frequent unsettling events, helping children develop respectful communication skills and resilience has never been more crucial. With social media amplifying opinions and reactions, and natural and social events dominating the news, parents and caregivers must guide children on navigating these challenges thoughtfully and responsibly.


“Whether discussing sensitive topics online or coping with distressing current events, children look to the adults in their lives for guidance,” said Dr. Steve Arcidiacono, Boys Town Behavioral Health Specialist. “We need to teach them not only how to express their views respectfully but also how to process their emotions and reactions constructively.”


Tips for Raising Respectful and Resilient Kids


1. Teach Respectful Communication and Social Media Awareness

Children must understand that while expressing their opinions is healthy, doing so respectfully is essential. Encourage them to:

• Respect different viewpoints, even when they disagree.
• Think before they post, remembering that social media is forever.
• Practice healthy debate in safe environments, such as family discussions or classroom settings.


“An impulsive post can have lasting consequences,” said Dr. Arcidiacono. “Help your kids ask themselves, ‘Am I okay with this being associated with me in the future?’”


2. Provide Reassurance During Challenging Times
When children are exposed to distressing events, whether online or in the news, provide comfort and support by:
• Reassuring them of their safety and emphasizing the protective role of trusted adults.
• Encouraging them to express their emotions through conversations, art, or play.
• Tailoring discussions to their age and development to provide appropriate context.
3. Maintain Stability and Monitor Well-Being


During times of uncertainty, routines provide a much-needed sense of normalcy. Ensure children have regular meals, sufficient sleep, and participate in school and family activities. Be observant of changes in behavior or emotions that might indicate deeper concerns.


4. Model and Teach Resilience
Children learn by observing adults. Demonstrate calm and respectful discourse, whether addressing sensitive topics or handling disagreements. Show them how to navigate complex emotions and empower them with strategies to manage stress, such as identifying trusted adults to turn to when they feel overwhelmed.

 
5. Foster Empathy and Safe Expression
Create opportunities for children to safely explore and express their thoughts, such as mock debates or guided family discussions. Encourage open communication, helping them understand that disagreements are natural and can be approached respectfully.


“As parents and caregivers, it’s our responsibility to model empathy, resilience, and respectful discourse,” added Dr. Connie Schnoes, Director of Boys Town Behavioral Health. “By fostering these skills, we prepare our children to navigate both the digital and real-world challenges they’ll encounter.”

Thirty pairs of riders and horses participated in this event held on Saturday, February 1st on the Derby (grass) Field in Wellington.

After the first go round a total of 6 pairs went through clean, no knockdowns or time penalties.

Leading the way to his second first place finish of this young season was Germany’s Richard Vogel riding Cydello. For the win, he went home with a $70,950 check.

Shane Sweetnam of Ireland aboard James Kann Cruz collected $43,000 for finishing second.

Also, from Ireland was Niamh McEvoy received $32,250 for finishing third on Jargon DN.

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida hosts the annual “Give a Box, Get a Box,” to support the Cookies for the Military program on Friday, February 21 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Duffy’s Sports Grill locations throughout Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee Counties. Those who purchase a box of cookies for the military that night will receive a free box of their favorite Girl Scout cookies.

“Our partnership with Duffy’s Sports Grill is so important to our Cookies for the Military program, said Lisa Johnson, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. “Since Give a Box, Get a Box was launched with Duffy’s in 2013, nearly 40,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies have been donated to the military. We are thrilled to continue this heartwarming tradition and grateful for the community’s ongoing support.”

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County Celebrates

Groundbreaking Ceremony for its Future New “Home”


Palm Springs, FL (January 31, 2025) – Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County (HFHGPBC) recently celebrated a significant milestone with a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new office in Palm Springs. This event marked the beginning of renovations for the nonprofit’s future home, made possible by Bank of America who is generously donating a ten-year lease to Habitat to help the organization establish its roots.

 
Following the merger of the two Palm Beach County Habitat affiliates in 2023, HFHGPBC aimed to secure a larger, more centralized location to expand its impact and better support families in need of affordable housing. Having all staff under one roof will help streamline operations, enhance collaboration, and provide significant cost savings for the organization. The nonprofit looks forward to the anticipated move in late 2025.

 
“Habitat has provided homes for hundreds of families in Palm Beach County, so we jumped at the opportunity to help Habitat with their own home,” said Fabiola Brumley, president of Bank of America Palm Beach County. “This partnership aligns with our commitment to economic mobility and will help Habitat continue their important work of building homes and hope for families in need.”
