VOLUNTEERS FROM ALPERT JFS AND THE KIND KITCHEN OF PALM BEACH TO DELIVER MEALS FOR SHAVUOT
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – April 20, 2021 – Approximately 20 volunteers from Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service (Alpert JFS) and The Kind Kitchen of Palm Beach (Kind Kitchen) will be packaging or delivering meals for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot (May 16-18) on May 14, 2021. Drivers will wear masks and practice social distancing to deliver festive, traditional meals, along with a holiday guide and flowers safely.
Meals of gefilte fish, chicken, kugel and side dishes, challah, fresh cake and a dairy cheese tray and crackers that will reach clients of Alpert JFS’ Holocaust Survivors Assistance program are funded through KAVOD. The organization partners with Jewish family services and other organizations that work with survivors, providing assistance with whatever emergency or day-to-day needs that they have.
“In the bible, Shavuot marks the wheat harvest in Israel, and commemorates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai,” said Chani Ezagui of The Kind Kitchen. “As the Torah unifies us as a people, the community members from all walks of life who deliver meals to the ill and homebound show unity, which is a special gift.”
“Our dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to deliver holiday meals to clients from Alpert JFS’ Holocaust Survivors Assistance program,” said Alpert JFS Director of Volunteer Leadership Belinda Lasky. “Volunteers bring smiles to the faces of those receiving meals, and wish each of them a very good holiday.”
“It is so wonderful that our Holocaust Survivors will be able to enjoy this festive meal on Shavuot,” said Alpert JFS Director of Long Term Care Jennifer Escobar. ”The delivery of these meals is one special way that we can help them honor and uphold holiday traditions.”
The mission of KAVOD is to provide emergency relief to Holocaust survivors in need, helping them live the remainder of their lives in comfort and with dignity. The organization partners with Jewish Family Service and other organizations that work with Survivors, providing assistance with vital emergency or ongoing day-to-day needs that they have. One hundred percent of all donations by KAVOD go to Survivors.
The Kind Kitchen of Palm Beach is located at 844 Prosperity Farms Road in North Palm Beach. The 501(c) (3) organization, dedicated to doing kindness, provides weekly Glatt Kosher meals. The elderly, new and/or single mothers, those in mourning, people recovering from surgery, people with terminal illness, or anyone experiencing the stresses of COVID-19 may get meal delivery assistance. Menus rotate each week so established clients have variety. To volunteer with the organization, sponsor or sign up to receive traditional meals, visit www.thekindkitchen.org.
The Alpert JFS Holocaust Survivors Assistance Program has seven full-time employees working to preserve the dignity of Holocaust survivors, identifying and addressing their distinct social welfare, health care, and emotional needs with the utmost sensitivity. The team helps them navigate the Reparations Benefit Process, and provides monthly, bi-monthly,
and annual socialization activities for survivors. The HonoringLifeTM program facilitated by Alpert JFS provides cultural competency training for healthcare and legal professionals, as well as others who may encounter Holocaust survivors. Visit www.AlpertJFS.org/for-seniors-holocaust-survivors-assistance/ for more information.

Inside the Premier Cafe, “best kept secret’ in Wellington, where they roast their own coffee every day.
Everybody loves a good cup of coffee. In today’s day and age, the vision of having coffee while reading the newspaper and spending time with loved ones have long been replaced with the world “runs on” coffee adage. Easily enough we find it very difficult to find a quality good cup of coffee out side of the massively produced over processed version of Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts’ coffee. They are a great business model, but it is not the coffee that comes first. I’m just saying.
In 2011, my husband Dr. Apicella and I were celebrating our 10-year anniversary in Spain where I have a good amount of my family and where we first went on our honeymoon. It was this trip where we were introduced to the cafe con leche and of course, churros!! On any given day during our stay, we would meet up with friends and family over coffee, reminisce over good times and the beautiful mountains views. It is this feeling of peace and relaxation that Dr. Apicella and I had brought into our relationship 6 years ago as we have made it a point to enjoy at least 15 minutes of peace and quite coffee time amidst our daily schedule of kids, patients, and business. It is a ritual to help bring peace of mind and body, as we have since always used an organic coffee bean with whole organic milk and a drop of honey.
It is from this concept that started 7 years ago that the Premier Cafe was born. Premier Family Health and Wellness has long stood strong in its mission to provide the best in health and wellness through the guidance and resources we provide. We are passionate about health and are always looking to bring together the mind, body and soul of health in one model. Premier Cafe is not just a coffee shop, but a place for learning more about healthy lifestyle patterns. It is our hope to not only feed the body but support the mind and soul by providing educational forums and a place to “stop and smell the roses.” We look forward to to serving you soon. Thank you.

Local Culinary and Business Professionals Team Up to Launch ‘QuenchTime,’ A Dining and Charity Program to Support Area Restaurants
NORTH PALM BEACH, FL – A group of local business and culinary leaders have teamed up to launch QuenchTime, a creative loyalty program that provides diners with exclusive offers at participating restaurants. The initiative was designed to support area restaurants that have struggled over the past year due to the pandemic and economic anxiety and is the collective brainchild of local ‘foodie’ Taylor Morgan, along with The Honorable Ronald R. Spoehel, former CFO of NASA, and restaurant entrepreneur Bruce Caprara.
Through QuenchTime, diners pay a modest membership fee (ranging from $9.99 to $19.99 per month) and receive complimentary drinks (a glass of wine, a beer, a cocktail or $15 off a bottle of wine) whenever they dine at participating restaurants. There is no fee for restaurants to participate, and more than 85 restaurants throughout Palm Beach County have already signed on to the program. Participating restaurants include Carmine’s La Trattoria (Palm Beach Gardens), Dada (Delray), Kapow (Boca Raton and West Palm Beach), Leila Restaurant (West Palm Beach), Tommy Bahama (Jupiter), Nicoletta’s (Boynton Beach), and many more.
A portion of all monthly membership fees are donated to the QuenchTime Restaurant Relief Fund, which will provide financial assistance directly and through a 501c3 non-profit organization to restaurant owners and their employees in times of crisis.
“When the pandemic hit, restaurateurs struggled to keep staff employed and pay their leases and utilities, while being unable to generate revenue,” said Taylor Morgan, president of QuenchTime. “Many relied on loans and even crowdfunding to help them survive. When we realized that there was no local Relief Fund in place to help them during a crisis, we decided to create it. Restaurant owners are always stepping up to the plate to support the local community and charitable organizations. We wanted to do something to be able to give back to them.”
“2020 was devastating, to say the least,” said Karen Howe, co-owner of Pelican Café in Lake Park. “When we were offered a chance to participate in QuenchTime – at no charge – we jumped on board. It’s a brilliant program and they’ve created it for all the right reasons.”
A Palm Beach County resident for over 40 years, Ms. Morgan serves as QuenchTime President and Co-Founder. A former radio personality, founder of Sprinkles Ice Cream Shop, and creator of the popular app LocalDines, she has developed close personal friendships with many local chefs and restaurateurs.
Chairman and Co-Founder of QuenchTime, the Honorable Ronald R. Spoehel, is a private investor with more than 40 years of board, executive management, banking and private investment experience. He also served as the Presidentially-appointed, Senate-confirmed Chief Financial Officer of NASA from 2007-2009.
The third Co-Founder of QuenchTime is restaurant industry veteran Bruce Caprara, former long-time General Manager of Carmine’s Restaurants in Northern Palm Beach County. He most recently served as Founder and CEO of yougetmore.com, a digital platform that raised money for schools.
QuenchTime is also expanding into Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and into additional markets throughout the U.S. in the near future.
QuenchTime, launched in late 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic, is a creative loyalty program that provides diners with exclusive offers at participating restaurants. The initiative was designed to support area restaurants and their employees, while offering incentives to diners. A portion of proceeds benefits the QuenchTime Restaurant Relief Fund.
