In the adorably different town of Uglyville, weirdness is celebrated, strangeness is special, and beauty is embraced as more than meets the eye. After traveling to the other side of a mountain, Moxy and her UglyDoll friends discover Perfection — a town where more conventional dolls receive training before entering the real world to find the love of a child. Soon, the UglyDolls learn what it means to be different, ultimately realizing that they don’t have to be perfect to be amazing.
Outdoor movie watching has never been more inviting than on the West Palm Beach Waterfront. Monthly, on the second Friday of the month, the City of West Palm Beach turns the Great Lawn into an open-air theater – movie and included views of the stars and sea are both FREE. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and snuggle up for the featured films, which include newly released hits and throwback favorites. Sunday on the Waterfront may be changing its latitude, but certainly not its attitude! Guests are being asked, in the words of a Jimmy Buffett song, to “Take Another Road,” and head to Currie Park instead. Once there, the Caribbean Chillers, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, will make concert goers feel like they are in “Margaritaville.” Under the sway of palm trees on the waterfront, Parrotheads will relax to sights and sounds that make this special event feel like a real Jimmy Buffett concert. Guests will enjoy this fun relaxing music with the West Palm Beach waterfront in full view.

Kravis Center’s Broadway Reach Program Celebrates Fifth Season with Fiddler on the Roof
(West Palm Beach, FL) – The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating the fifth season of its Broadway Reach arts education program. A Student Share Celebration for Broadway Reach was held in November featuring student art displays as well as song and dance performances by students from several area schools.

This year, students from The Conservatory School @ North Palm Beach Elementary, Glade View Elementary School, Lake Worth Middle School and U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts are enrolled in Broadway Reach. They performed musical selections from Fiddler on the Roof prior to a matinee performance of the iconic Broadway hit musical and showcased their artwork related to the performance on the Dreyfoos Hall loge level.
The students’ performance and art exhibition were made possible by a grant from the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation through the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties with additional support from Rick and Rosemary Johnston. The grant, totaling $55,000 over two years, will allow Broadway Reach to provide sequential arts education and exposure to live Broadway touring productions to over 70 underserved children from high poverty neighborhoods.
Following their musical performances, the students enjoyed a matinee performance of Fiddler on the Roof, as well as a catered lunch and a special meet-and-greet with the cast.

The more than 70 students enrolled experience a series of intensive, interactive arts education sessions leading up to attending a live performance of the productions. Students explore the themes of the productions under the instruction of professional teaching artists. Focus was on visual art, dance, and voice through the study of Jewish culture, the background for Fiddler on the Roof. The students made narrative collages and drawings as well as a sculpture out of discarded and broken instruments from the U.B. Kinsey/Palmview Elementary orchestra and band. The Conservatory School @ North Palm Beach Elementary and Glade View Elementary both choreographed dances to the “Wedding/Bottle Dance” and Lake Worth Middle School students sang “Matchmaker.”

(West Palm Beach, FL – January 17, 2020) The Palm Beach Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council International, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and further cultivation and use of tropical and rare fruit in South Florida and around the world, is hosting its annual Tropical Fruit Tree & Edible Plant Sale on Saturday, March 14. The popular event will be held from 9 am to 2 pm in Concourse Buildings 6-10 on the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.
At this year’s Tropical Fruit Tree & Edible Plant Sale, vendors from all over the state will offer a wide variety of delightful and delicious fruit trees, including Avocado, Banana, Barbados Cherry, Black Sapote, Canistel Citrus, Dragon Fruit, Fig, Guava, Grumichama, Jackfruit, Jaboticaba, Longan, Lychee, Macadamia, Mamey Sapote, Mango, Miracle Fruit, Mulberry, Papaya, Peach, Persimmon, Soursop, Sugar Apple, Star Apple, Tamarind, herbs and spices, plus specially formulated fertilizer, and more.
Rare Fruits
Visitors are encouraged to bring a wagon to help carry purchased plants. Also available will be educational information on the planting and growing of fruit trees, along with knowledgeable volunteers and vendors to answer any questions.
Tree and plant fans should enter the South Florida Fairgrounds through Gate 8 on Fair Grounds Road. Both admission and parking are FREE.

Established in 1970, the Palm Beach Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council (RFC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and furthering the cultivation and use of tropical and rare fruit in south Florida and throughout the world. Monthly meetings are the second Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Mounts Botanical Garden, 531 N. Each meeting has an educational lecture by a speaker in the field of fruit science or related field, a fruit tree auction, a seed & plant exchange, and the chapter’s famous “tasting table” – a chance to taste various tropical fruits grown by members.

Pro athletes to make appearances at 2020 South Florida Fair
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — To tie into the South Florida Fair’s 2020 theme of “Play Ball. Play Fair!”, professional athletes have been invited to make appearances during the fair, January 17-February 2. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has arranged for one current and one retired athlete from the NFL to sign autographs at the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation exhibit in the Expo East Theater from noon – 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25.
Davon Godchaux
Davon Godchaux, the Miami Dolphins’s “Man of the Year,” and O.J. McDuffie, a former Miami Dolphins wide receiver, will meet and greet fans and sign autographs before departing to attend the youth football camp at Orange Bowl Field at Glades Pioneer Park.
Godchaux is a current player and starting defensive linemen for the Miami Dolphins. He has been nominated for the National Football League’s “Walter Payton Man of the Year” for his commitment toward serving the community.
O.J. McDuffie
McDuffie spent eight years with the Miami Dolphins and is regarded as one of the top wide receivers in the franchise’s history. He became known as Dan Marino’s favorite receiver during his formative years as a member of the Dolphins. His 415 career catches are fourth all-time in Dolphins history. In 1998, he caught 90 passes, leading the NFL in that category. He is the only Dolphin to achieve this feat.
