Over 700 philanthropic influencers will raise funds to benefit Palm Beach’s sea turtle and ocean conservation hub: The Sea Turtle Hospital at Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Our iconic Lilly Pulitzer once said, “If you don’t have any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.”  Beach Bash Palm Beach, now in its 13th year, is Lilly Pulitzer’s largest annual charity event.  Saving sea turtles never looked so good!

This year’s theme, For the Love of Palm Beach will celebrate 60 years of Lilly Pulitzer and will salute the new Lilly Pulitzer store on Palm Beach’s iconic Worth Avenue.  Lilly Leas Ferreira is Chairing the event for 2018.  Ferreira is Lilly Pulitzer’s granddaughter, and she has curated a powerful new host committee tasked with exceeding the event’s philanthropic goals.

“Beach Bash has always been a great event, but this year, we have a new level of community support and excitement surrounding the Bash,” said Ferreira. “The committee is going above and beyond, and we can’t wait to celebrate For the Love of Palm Beach in support of Loggerhead Marinelife Center.”

On Saturday, Dec. 29, from 8 p.m. to midnight, over 700 guests will spend the evening at the beautiful private Beach Club on Palm Beach for one of the most anticipated celebrations of the social season.

Decked in their brightest Lilly fashion, guests will enjoy:

  • Rosé by Whispering Angel and Frosé by The Palm

“We are thrilled to help celebrate 60 years of Lilly Pulitzer fashion and lifestyle at this year’s Beach Bash Palm Beach,” said Jack E. Lighton, LMC president & CEO. “Beach Bash Palm Beach is one of the most iconic philanthropic events of the social season and will help to showcase Palm Beach’s most treasured environmental assets: sea turtles, magnificent beaches and azure blue ocean waters.”

Kravis Center Announces Single Tickets on Sale November 17 for Kravis On Broadway Hit Shows WAITRESS and SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (November 15, 2018) The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is proud to announce that single tickets for the next series of sensational smash hit Kravis On Broadway performances will be available to the public on Saturday, November 17. Tickets for the deliciously delightful WAITRESS and the rocking and rollicking SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL can be purchased online or over the phone beginning at 10 a.m.

Brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team, this irresistible new hit WAITRESS features original music and lyrics by 6-time Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles (“Brave,” “Love Song”), a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam), choreography by Lorin Latarro (Les Dangereuse Liaisons, Waiting for Godot) and direction by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Hair, Pippin, Finding Neverland).

Inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s beloved film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna – a waitress and expert pie maker. Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life. “It’s an empowering musical of the highest order!” raves the Chicago Tribune.  WAITRESS is a little slice of heaven!” says Entertainment Weekly and “a monumental contribution to Broadway!” according to Marie Claire.  Don’t miss this uplifting musical celebrating friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie. Performances of WAITRESS run March 5-10.

SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL opened on Broadway to rave reviews on Sunday, December 6, 2015. This Ben Brantley New York Times ‘Critics’ Pick’ is “an inspiring jolt of energy and mad skillz,” raves Jesse Oxfeld of Entertainment Weekly. And in his four-star Critics’ Pick review, Time Out’s David Cote proclaimed, “School’s IN – forever!” SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL was nominated for four 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Lloyd Webber and Slater), Best Book (Fellowes), and Best Leading Actor in a Musical, and Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Alex Brightman). SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL also won the 2017 Oliver Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

Based on the hit film, SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL is a hilarious new musical that follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pintsized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within. Performances of SCHOOL OF ROCK – THE MUSICAL run March 27-31.

Kravis On Broadway is sponsored by Cynthia Friedman, Ann and Robert Fromer, and Martin and Toni Sosnoff. Tickets for WAITRESS start at $29. Tickets for SCHOOL OF ROCK start at $28. Quantum Foundation awards $750,000 to 94 grassroots nonprofits

Palm Beach County organizations receive funds for basic needs

(RIVIERA BEACH, Fla.) – Quantum Foundation is celebrating grassroots nonprofits in Palm Beach County through a breakfast at the Riviera Beach Marina to award grants totaling $750,000 to 94 organizations in Palm Beach County.

In the season of Thanksgiving, the eighth annual Quantum in the Community initiative provides funds for operating support in amounts up to $25,000 to qualifying nonprofits that help meet the basic needs of the county’s most vulnerable residents. The grantee organizations represent all four corners of the county, from Tequesta to Boca Raton and from Belle Glade to Riviera Beach. The atmosphere is always spirited and filled with gratitude as these organizations are receiving funds to continue their good work in the community.

“Quantum Foundation is a health foundation,” said Donna Mulholland, Quantum Foundation board chair. “We always keep our focus on health because that’s what we were founded to do. But this annual campaign acknowledges that if we don’t meet people’s basic needs, it’s not possible for them to stay healthy. So, in addition to our regular grants, every year we allocate funds for those nonprofits that meet basic needs like food, shelter, clothing and transport for the residents of Palm Beach County.”

In 2011, Quantum Foundation board of directors made a commitment to this annual program when surveys showed local nonprofits were struggling to keep their doors open in the troubled economy. Since then, the Quantum Foundation has awarded a total of $5.5 million local dollars through this initiative.

Quantum Foundation’s mission is to fund initiatives that improve the overall health of people living in Palm Beach County. In its 20th year of community investment, the foundation has assets of approximately $150 million and since its inception has awarded $130 million to hundreds of local nonprofit grantees. Every dollar the foundation grants stays in the county to benefit local communities.

“As we celebrate 20 years of impact in Palm Beach County, we want to take an upstream look at health,” said Eric Kelly, president of Quantum Foundation. “We know that our medical community can’t heal the body without having healthy societal and external factors in place. These grants support organizations helping the whole body and the whole community. As we enter the holiday season, we hope the rest of the community sees these organizations as worthy of their personal funding too — we are so proud of how they are changing our community one life at a time.”

Applications for Quantum in the Community grants open in the spring every year and funds are awarded each November. To learn more about the Quantum in the Community initiative, please visit the organization’s website at: www.quantumfnd.org/quantum-in-the-community

Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches Now Accepting Applications

for 2019 Class of Young Leaders Society

West Palm Beach, Fla. — Nov. 12, 2018 — Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches (JWF), has announced that the organization is now accepting applications for its 2019 Class of Young Leaders Society (YLS). Only 20 women are accepted into this group each year. The deadline to submit applications is Jan. 20, 2019.

“YLS provides a wonderful opportunity for young women to come together and cause change in the community, utilize and enhance their leadership skills, and work with other women with similar values,” said JWF Acting Executive Director Jennifer Kryshka. “We are pleased to accept applications for this unique and fulfilling program.”

YLS is open to women ages 25–40 who live or work in Palm Beach County and support JWF’s mission to empower women and girls through social change philanthropy and advocacy, and who wish to develop leadership skills, impact their community, and be part of a network of like-minded young women. In addition to monthly educational and skill building sessions, participants come together to support the local community through a special giving circle, and are invited to trustee education events.

YLS meets monthly January–December; participants are expected to attend all program activities. The last three sessions are the giving circle component of the program, which provides an opportunity to learn about organizations in the local community and strategic grant-making with a gender lens. Each member contributes a minimum of $250, which is pooled together for one local organization grant. YLS members research potential funding opportunities and collectively decide how to use their funds. JWF supports many causes, including those outside the Jewish community, and in 2018 currently offers grants to more than 20 organizations.

The YLS schedule can be viewed here: www.jwfpalmbeach.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2019-Young-Leaders-Society-Schedule.pdf. All sessions will be held at the JWF office, located at 500 S. Australian Ave., Fifth Floor, West Palm Beach, except when otherwise stated. YLS members are also invited to participate in JWF programs and events, and attend Trustee Luncheon Meetings.

The application and more information about YLS is located at www.jwfpalmbeach.org/young-leaders-society.

Mounts Botanical Garden to Present

GARDEN OF LIGHTS:

A Winter Holiday Event

November 24 – December 30, 2018

(West Palm Beach, FL – November 7, 2018) Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden today announced that it would be celebrating the garden’s 40th Anniversary RUBY JUBILEE with a major new, family-friendly attraction:

GARDEN OF LIGHTS:

A Winter Holiday Event at Mounts

November 24 – December 30, 2018

Mounts will be all a-twinkle in the evenings during the holiday season with thousands of holiday lights hanging from the trees, illuminating the walkways and landmark structures, with colorful LED trees and glowing light-balls, all along an easy-to-follow route throughout 15 different garden areas – the perfect way to light-up the holidays for joyous visitors of every age, romantic disposition, and spiritual leanings.

Families of all ages are invited to come and enjoy the professionally-installed and strategically placed broad collection of holiday themed lights and scenes. Palms and other trees will be wrapped with lights, dripping icicle luminaries from branches, glowing snowflakes on fences, decorated Christmas trees, a field of giant luminescent spheres, butterflies, arches, scenes of holiday trains, elves and bulging stockings, stirring candle lit Menorahs, and more.

In addition, Mounts will present live dance performances and musical presentations from local schools and academies during GARDEN OF LIGHTS: A Winter Holiday Event.

GARDEN OF LIGHTS is presented by FPL and sponsored by Randell and Rebecca Doane, the Garden Club of Palm Beach, TD Bank, Florida Farm Bureau Palm Beach County, Lewis Longman Walker, Michele Gurto CPA, Holyfield & Thomas LLC, and VOXX International.

And coming to Mounts Botanical Garden January through June:

TWISTED:

Patrick Dougherty Entwined at Mounts Botanical Garden

‘A Community Build Project’

North Carolina-based artist Patrick Dougherty is known for his Stickwork projects that combine both his carpentry skills and love of nature. Over the years, his work evolved from single pieces on conventional pedestals to monumental scale environmental works that require saplings by the truckload. Over the last 30 years, he has built over 250 of these works, and become internationally acclaimed.

“Each one of Dougherty’s structures are completely original, as will be his Stickwork at Mounts,” says Rochelle Wolberg, Curator-Director at Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest public garden, located just minutes from downtown West Palm Beach. “These giant, all natural structures take three weeks to hand-assemble and will be an interactive and environmental experience, perfect for adults and children to wander through, admire, and become part of a living art experience.”

“During the construction of this Community Build Project, which will start on January 8, Dougherty will be supported by as many as 130 local volunteers who will help build the Stickwork exhibition,” she adds. “The artist will solicit naming suggestions from both volunteers and onlookers, and will announce the final name when it is completed on January 26.”

Mounts Botanical Garden will be closed to the public January 21-26, and re-open on Sunday, January 27, when visitors can experience the completed TWISTED Stickwork exhibition.

Hours & Admission for TWISTED:

Throughout the Garden
