SEASON OPENING OF THE GREEN MARKET AT WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON, FLORIDA – The Green Market at Wellington will celebrate its season opening day, Saturday, October 22nd at 9am next to the Wellington Amphitheater.

This wonderful market reopened last November under new management and a new name and was very well received. It’s a more upscale market that now accommodates Wellington’s more affluent visitors. The market boasts amenities that are conveniently located near the vendors such as a shaded sitting area with restrooms only a few steps away. For the kids, there is Scott’s Place; an amazing state of the art playground that was designed to meet the needs of both able-bodied as well as disabled children.

Shoppers of the Green Market at Wellington can sit back and relax in a lush green environment while supporting their community by shopping vendors of locally grown plants and organic products. The market offers a wide selection of produce ranging from fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices, and fresh flowers to favorites like fresh Cider Doughnuts and coffee, Olive Oils and local honey.

The market also offers a compliment of artisan foods, pastries and baked goods and a unique selection of artists and crafters selling jewelry, handicrafts and other interesting wares. This year, there will be several new vendors alongside all of the favorite local vendors that many who support the market have grown to love. Bring your pets, as the Green Market at Wellington is not only pet friendly, it’s also a great meeting place for pet enthusiasts to show off their furry friends. Admission to the market is FREE with plenty of free on-site parking.

Opening day of the market will feature live music performed by Karen House and a kid friendly pirate ship for the little ones to enjoy.

Dine for Veterans is a NEW, unique, exciting event in South Florida.
Here’s how it works:
– Ambassadors from the Help Our Wounded Foundation reach out to restaurants. All restaurants and bars are eligible to participate.
– Restaurants agree to participate, committing to giving back in a number of ways: percentage of proceeds during a specific time window, for any one given night, the entire week, for a specific menu item, or a flat contribution.
– Our media partners (traditional media, social media, and food bloggers) engage the public to let them know about our partnering restaurants.
– Patrons dine at their choice of participating restaurants. There is no additional participation charge.
– Restaurants make contribution back to the HOW Foundation
– At the end of the week, every $1 raised, up to $20,000, will be matched by the Ohrstrom Foundation.

There are no striking visible hallmarks; no broken bones or physical scars, yet brain functioning is significantly altered. That is why we are here, at the Help Our Wounded (HOW) Foundation. The HOW Foundation provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to people who are suffering from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. Veterans were the first to receive support from the HOW Foundation, and they remain our priority. In our effort to support our local veterans through this event, 100% of the proceeds will go direct to medical care. Nothing will be taken out for administrative costs.

Palm Springs, FL (October 4, 2016) – Who says Florida is no longer a film and TV show destination? Certainly not G-Star School of the Arts for Film, Animation and Performing Arts (www.gstarschool.org). “We own the largest motion picture studio south of Orlando,” says Greg Hauptner, the school’s Founder and CEO. “When the state sponsored film incentive was cancelled we intensified our work with local filmmakers to partner with them. We found the best in See-Worthy Films (www.seeworthyfilms.com).” Just after finishing their second season of the made-for-mobile TV show TWEET, See-Worthy Films’ producers and writers Marc Zatorsky and Shawnee Morell stepped in with a major production. In Sanity, Florida is about a small town called Sanity in present day Florida where “the town is small, but the crazy isn’t.” This episodic TV show has a full-length feature film script and features an Emmy Award winning and Academy Award Nominee actor (name soon to be announced), and acting and production talent from shows such as Ant-Man, Iron Man 3, Marley & Me, Sponge Bob: The Movie, Burn Notice, TBS’ Wrecked, Adam Sandler’s The Do Over, Serendipity, How I met Your Mother, Burn Notice, Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way, Legion of Ru, Graceland, Magic City, In the Heat of the Night, Star Trek Anthology, and Hungryland. “The town of Sanity is throwback to a small town that looks like the 1930s. We found a million dollars-worth of perfect sets in Yesteryear Village at the Palm Beach County Fairgrounds where show will be shot,” says Morell. The G-Star School of the Arts is proud to announce that three of its students, Sydney Presendieu, Madison Lillard, and Walker Clermont have been cast in prominent roles in the show. Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – Where can you find a fire truck, police squad car, and superheroes like Superman, Batman, Captain America, and Iron Man, all in the same place? At BRIO Tuscan Grille’s Cars, Trucks, and Superhero Breakfast on Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Gardens Mall.

Kids of all ages are encouraged to dress up like their favorite action heroes for this super-special event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Jeffro’s Heroes, a hero-centric organization that raises money for children and their families in Palm Beach County.

Guests will enjoy:

• Watching the arrival of the superheroes by Palm Beach Gardens Police and Fire Rescue. Fire trucks and squad cars will remain on-site during the event.

• Mingling with world-famous superheroes who will pose for photographs, sign autographs, answer crime-fighting questions, and more.

• Each child will receive a signed 8”x10” glossy photo of the entire superhero team.

The delicious adult menu features:

• Ham Benedict: Poached, cage-free eggs, cherrywood smoked ham, housemade biscuit, grilled asparagus, hollandaise sauce, and brunch potatoes.
• Scrambled Eggs*, Home Fries & Bacon: Three, farm-fresh scrambled eggs with brunch potatoes and bacon.
• Berries and Cream French Toast: Mascarpone cream cheese-stuffed brioche, topped with fresh berries and vanilla cream drizzle, and served with bacon.

Inviting the great Arturo Toscanini to conduct the orchestra’s first concert, Huberman’s clarion call of art over cruelty was heard around the world. His story contains extraordinary adventures, riches and royalty, politicians and broken promises, losses and triumphs. Against near impossible obstacles, Huberman refused to give up on his dream to create a unique and life-saving orchestra of exiles that was one of the great cultural achievements of the 20th century. Wellington celebrated National Public Lands Day (NPLD) with approximately 50 volunteers planting more than 300 Walter’s viburnum shrubs at the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Environmental Preserve.

On Saturday, September 24th, more than 175,000 volunteers nationwide visited their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves or forests and chipped in to help improve these treasured places. Wellington residents did their part in the 23rd Annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the United States. This year’s Wellington group included volunteers from the Wellington Garden Club, Girl Scout Troop 22222, Boy Scout Troop 222, Cub Scout Troop 222 and the Palm Beach Central High School Environmental Club. Native seedlings planted will enhance the natural habitat for birds and pollinators. This is the third year that the Village of Wellington has partnered with community groups to celebrate National Public Lands Day by planting native trees and shrubs at the preserve. Special thanks to the volunteers for their efforts to create a greener tomorrow.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Halloween is a favorite time of year for many children and to ensure they’re safe, the South Florida Fair will continue its annual tradition of presenting Spookyville. The event is slated for two weekends, Oct. 21-23, and Oct. 28-31, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and from 5 to 8 p.m. on Halloween, Mon., Oct. 31, in Yesteryear Village at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 9067 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach.

The cost is $10 per person, which includes rides and games, and kids 2 and younger are free. Tickets may be purchased online at www.southfloridafair.com or at the gate. Parking also is free.

“Spookyville is an old-fashioned Halloween event that’s fun for the entire family,” said Lorie Stinson, the fair’s exhibits and special events manager. “Intended for kids 12 and younger, there will be trick or treating each day along with other activities for the kids.”

Spookyville’s highlights include trick-or-treating, carnival rides, a costume parade each day, bounce houses, a barrel train and a big wall on which kids can color. There also will be old-fashioned games, arts and crafts, a spooky house, food and drinks and vendors.

Those who wear a costume on both Sundays can compete for prizes starting at 1 p.m. A pet costume contest will be held on Sat., Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. Pets must be on a leash when entering the event. The Fair asks that no exotic pets or reptiles (snakes, spiders, etc.) be brought on site as they may scare the younger kids.

Backpacks, food, glass containers and alcohol are prohibited. Participating Sponsors are Ford, Kubota, Florida Dairy Farmers, Coca Cola, Lion Country Safari and Solid Waste Authority.
