Join us on Saturday, November 5th at from 2 – 5 pm. Loggerhead Marinelife Center is launching a Water Quality Monitoring Program! This program will integrate state-of-the-art research techniques and equipment with hands-on monitoring for local residents, as well as teachers and students. Participants will learn about water quality withing the Lake Worth Lagoon, as well as sampling techniques to become Citizen Scientists for our community. Ayurvedic Medicinal Herbs for the South Florida Home & Garden

Wednesday, November 2 – 6 to 7:30 pm

Speaker: Scott Gerson, M.D., Ph.D. (Ayu), The Gerson Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine

This bio-regional herbal workshop will teach how to identify, grow, harvest, and use plant-based medicines from the South Florida Zone 10 region, with a special emphasis on Ayurvedic-relevant flora within a 50-mile radius of West Palm Beach. The workshop offers professional level training in both the theory and practical application of South Florida Ayurvedic herbs. The concepts of the Five Elements, Three Doshas, Cooling-Warming, Drying-Moistening, and the Six Tastes will be integrated throughout the program.

This annual plant sale features more than 80 vendors from all over the state showcasing an amazing assortment of fabulous plants and garden goods. Come early and enjoy a rare opportunity to learn about plant culture of South Florida by speaking directly to the growers. The Greater Palm Beach Rose Society will be holding their annual judging and show featuring many of the state’s best blooms. The Palm Beach County Woodturners will showcase a large selection of beautiful crafts in Mounts Exhibit Hall A.

Note: Mounts members can shop early from 8 to 9 am on Saturday.

Every home garden has personality and mosaics can bring an additional touch of color and uniqueness to it. From pathways to pavers and planters to concrete figures, many things have the potential for beautification through the patterns of mosaics. In this class, students will learn the process of planning a pattern, breaking ceramic pieces and applying mosaics on a three dimensional form. Mosaics will be applied to planters for practice and then to small-mid sized objects, which students bring in such as, small tables, birdbaths, planters or small concrete animal sculptures. Participants should collect and bring in an assortment of their favorite tile pieces to build a pattern. Some additional forms and tile pieces will be provided to supplement what students bring.  Planters will be filled with beautiful plants and all finished pieces will be available for pick up after tiles are fully set.

This workshop is designed to help participants identify and learn more about which Florida native plants to select toward attracting pollinators to their very own gardens. Creating a butterfly garden is easy and fun if one knows a few basics about butterflies. Learn interesting facts about these beautiful “flowers of the air.” Lee will discuss which plants local butterflies need at all stages of their life cycle, including host plants and nectar plants. Butterfly gardening is good for the environment and good for the soul.

This wonderful market reopened last November under new management and a new name and was very well received. It’s a more upscale market that now accommodates Wellington’s more affluent visitors. The market boasts amenities that are conveniently located near the vendors such as a shaded sitting area with restrooms only a few steps away. For the kids, there is Scott’s Place; an amazing state of the art playground that was designed to meet the needs of both able-bodied as well as disabled children.

Shoppers of the Green Market at Wellington can sit back and relax in a lush green environment while supporting their community by shopping vendors of locally grown plants and organic products. The market offers a wide selection of produce ranging from fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices, and fresh flowers to favorites like fresh Cider Doughnuts and coffee, Olive Oils and local honey.

The market also offers a compliment of artisan foods, pastries and baked goods and a unique selection of artists and crafters selling jewelry, handicrafts and other interesting wares. Here’s how it works:

Palm Springs, FL (October 4, 2016) – Who says Florida is no longer a film and TV show destination? Certainly not G-Star School of the Arts for Film, Animation and Performing Arts (www.gstarschool.org). “We own the largest motion picture studio south of Orlando,” says Greg Hauptner, the school’s Founder and CEO. “When the state sponsored film incentive was cancelled we intensified our work with local filmmakers to partner with them. We found the best in See-Worthy Films (www.seeworthyfilms.com).” Just after finishing their second season of the made-for-mobile TV show TWEET, See-Worthy Films’ producers and writers Marc Zatorsky and Shawnee Morell stepped in with a major production. In Sanity, Florida is about a small town called Sanity in present day Florida where “the town is small, but the crazy isn’t.” This episodic TV show has a full-length feature film script and features an Emmy Award winning and Academy Award Nominee actor (name soon to be announced), and acting and production talent from shows such as Ant-Man, Iron Man 3, Marley & Me, Sponge Bob: The Movie, Burn Notice, TBS’ Wrecked, Adam Sandler’s The Do Over, Serendipity, How I met Your Mother, Burn Notice, Nickelodeon’s Every Witch Way, Legion of Ru, Graceland, Magic City, In the Heat of the Night, Star Trek Anthology, and Hungryland. “The town of Sanity is throwback to a small town that looks like the 1930s. We found a million dollars-worth of perfect sets in Yesteryear Village at the Palm Beach County Fairgrounds where show will be shot,” says Morell. The G-Star School of the Arts is proud to announce that three of its students, Sydney Presendieu, Madison Lillard, and Walker Clermont have been cast in prominent roles in the show. Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – Where can you find a fire truck, police squad car, and superheroes like Superman, Batman, Captain America, and Iron Man, all in the same place? At BRIO Tuscan Grille’s Cars, Trucks, and Superhero Breakfast on Saturday, October 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Gardens Mall.

Kids of all ages are encouraged to dress up like their favorite action heroes for this super-special event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Jeffro’s Heroes, a hero-centric organization that raises money for children and their families in Palm Beach County.

Guests will enjoy:

• Watching the arrival of the superheroes by Palm Beach Gardens Police and Fire Rescue. Fire trucks and squad cars will remain on-site during the event.

• Mingling with world-famous superheroes who will pose for photographs, sign autographs, answer crime-fighting questions, and more.

• Each child will receive a signed 8”x10” glossy photo of the entire superhero team.

The delicious adult menu features:

Synopsis: The compelling biography of the violinist who founded the Palestine Symphony Orchestra and saved hundreds of people from Hitler – as seen in Josh Aronson’s documentary Orchestra of Exiles.
In creating this world-level orchestra, celebrated Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman miraculously arranged for the very best Jewish musicians and their families to emigrate from Nazi-threatened territories. His tireless campaigning for the project – including a marathon fundraising concert tour across America – ultimately saved nearly a thousand Jews from the approaching Holocaust. Inviting the great Arturo Toscanini to conduct the orchestra’s first concert, Huberman’s clarion call of art over cruelty was heard around the world. His story contains extraordinary adventures, riches and royalty, politicians and broken promises, losses and triumphs. Against near impossible obstacles, Huberman refused to give up on his dream to create a unique and life-saving orchestra of exiles that was one of the great cultural achievements of the 20th century.
