“We are thrilled Lisa has agreed to serve as our president and board chair,” said Tami Baldinger, CEO of Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches. “We are confident that her leadership experience will be instrumental in helping us raise our next $1 million through our ongoing ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ campaign. “I am honored to be elected as the board chair for Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches,” said Schreier. “JWF’s mission aligns with my personal beliefs and passions in every single way, so it is truly a perfect match. I look forward to kicking off our annual fundraising efforts at the 2016 ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ luncheon in December, where one of our current grantees will speak about our impact and the need for efforts to support and empower women and girls worldwide.”

Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches is a nonprofit grantmaking and advocacy organization established to improve the lives of women and girls. An inclusive organization, JWF welcomes members of all beliefs and genders who believe that when women and girls are empowered, the entire community benefits.

Jewish Women’s Foundation of the Greater Palm Beaches’ annual Imagine the Possibilities luncheon is Thursday, December 15 at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. In this class, students will learn the process of planning a pattern, breaking ceramic pieces and applying mosaics on a three dimensional form. Mosaics will be applied to planters for practice and then to small-mid sized objects, which students bring in such as, small tables, birdbaths, planters or small concrete animal sculptures. Participants should collect and bring in an assortment of their favorite tile pieces to build a pattern. Some additional forms and tile pieces will be provided to supplement what students bring.  Planters will be filled with beautiful plants and all finished pieces will be available for pick up after tiles are fully set.

WELLINGTON, FLORIDA – The Green Market at Wellington will celebrate its season opening day, Saturday, October 22nd at 9am next to the Wellington Amphitheater.
greenmarket1

This wonderful market reopened last November under new management and a new name and was very well received. It’s a more upscale market that now accommodates Wellington’s more affluent visitors. The market boasts amenities that are conveniently located near the vendors such as a shaded sitting area with restrooms only a few steps away. For the kids, there is Scott’s Place; an amazing state of the art playground that was designed to meet the needs of both able-bodied as well as disabled children.

Shoppers of the Green Market at Wellington can sit back and relax in a lush green environment while supporting their community by shopping vendors of locally grown plants and organic products. The market offers a wide selection of produce ranging from fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices, and fresh flowers to favorites like fresh Cider Doughnuts and coffee, Olive Oils and local honey.

The market also offers a compliment of artisan foods, pastries and baked goods and a unique selection of artists and crafters selling jewelry, handicrafts and other interesting wares. This year, there will be several new vendors alongside all of the favorite local vendors that many who support the market have grown to love. Bring your pets, as the Green Market at Wellington is not only pet friendly, it’s also a great meeting place for pet enthusiasts to show off their furry friends. Admission to the market is FREE with plenty of free on-site parking.

Opening day of the market will feature live music performed by Karen House and a kid friendly pirate ship for the little ones to enjoy.

The Green Market at Wellington is located at 12150 Forest Hill Blvd. Wellington, FL 33414

Inaugural Dine for Veterans Week Presented by Crane’s Beach House

Inaugural Dine for Veterans Week Presented by Crane’s Beach House

Final

Aligning Local Restaurants, the Public and Local Veterans in Need of Medical Support
EVENT AT A GLANCE

– Sunday, November 6 through Veterans Day, Friday, November 11
– Partnering restaurants in the tri-County region
– Public participates by dining at partnering restaurants
– Coordinated network of restaurants give back a percentage of proceeds
– $20,000 Matching grant opportunity from the Ohrstrom Foundation
– Corporate Sponsorships available

Dine for Veterans is a NEW, unique, exciting event in South Florida.
Here’s how it works:
– Ambassadors from the Help Our Wounded Foundation reach out to restaurants. All restaurants and bars are eligible to participate.
– Restaurants agree to participate, committing to giving back in a number of ways: percentage of proceeds during a specific time window, for any one given night, the entire week, for a specific menu item, or a flat contribution.
– Our media partners (traditional media, social media, and food bloggers) engage the public to let them know about our partnering restaurants.
– Patrons dine at their choice of participating restaurants. There is no additional participation charge.
– Restaurants make contribution back to the HOW Foundation
– At the end of the week, every $1 raised, up to $20,000, will be matched by the Ohrstrom Foundation.
– Local companies can support the event through corporate sponsorships. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
– 100% of all donations will benefit veterans in need of medical care.

This event exemplifies the power of collective impact.
This event would not be possible without a collaborate effort from the traditional and social media community. Media partners such as Boca Life Magazine, Florida Food & Farm, Savor Tonight, Take a Bite out of Boca, Edible South Florida, Boca Locals and PR-BS are working with us to make this inaugural event a success.

HOW Foundation supporters understand the reality of invisible wounds of war.
There are no striking visible hallmarks; no broken bones or physical scars, yet brain functioning is significantly altered. That is why we are here, at the Help Our Wounded (HOW) Foundation. The HOW Foundation provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy to people who are suffering from traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. Veterans were the first to receive support from the HOW Foundation, and they remain our priority. In our effort to support our local veterans through this event, 100% of the proceeds will go direct to medical care. Nothing will be taken out for administrative costs.

Dine for Veterans Week Sponsors include Crane’s BeachHouse Boutique Hotel & Luxury Villas, TrainerSpace, Boca Life Magazine, Edible South Florida, Savor Tonight, Boca Local, Florida Food & Farm and Take a Bite Out of Boca.

Our website, www.dineforveterans.com, has our calendar of which restaurants or giving back on each day of the week of Veterans’ Day. Please visit our website for additional details, locations, and opportunities to support.
