February, 2016- POP ARTIST NICOLE GALLUCCIO FEATURED DEMONSTRATOR FOR THE WELLINGTON ART SOCIETY

The Wellington Art Society will feature local pop artist Nicole Gallucci at their February 10, 2016 meeting at Bootz Culture Art Center, 420 State Road 7, Suite 118. Meet and greet wil begin at 6:30, followed by a member spotlight and a brief meeting. The main attraction will be a demonstration by Nicole Gallucci with a wonderful raffle to end the evening.

Nicole has been painting and creating her pop art in South Florida for 20 years. She graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from Florida Atlantic University and began creating her own unique style. Her paintings combine 60s mod fashion and style, comic, music and media tabloids and spinning them into a visual explosion of color against a black and white paper collage background.

She often includes headlines and wording that exemplify her emotions as related to that experience. Nicole is constantly evolving and continues to experiment with her technique, beginning to use imagery from other sources, including old children’s books and vintage Life magazines .

She has exhibited at the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, Continuum Annual Pop Up Art Exhibition, Boca Museum of Art Artist’s Guild and several other local galleries. Her most recent pieces being shown at Continuum 2016 depict the emotions we feel when falling in love, “Falling In” and further experiencing a deeper connection, “Falling Deeper”.

The Wellington Art Society is a non-profit charitable organization In its 35th year. It is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, allowing both local and regional artists to display their art work in local galleries, interact with other artists and serve the community through. their art.

SILENT AUCTION MAY STEAL THE SHOW AT ANNUAL FAMILY PICNIC

(WELLINGTON, Fla.)  Although it will be a stiff competition, bets are in that the silent auction may just steal the show at the 21st Annual Hanley Center Foundation Family Picnic on Saturday, February 6 at the International Polo Club from noon to 2:30 p.m.  The Picnic committee has already secured top prizes, including coveted tickets to the sold-out Adele concert in Miami – an ultimate date night package, but are still rounding up items for both the adult and kids-only silent auctions.  With funds earmarked for prevention programming in Florida schools, the well-known benefit shines a spotlight on the importance of family fun, involving kids every step of the way.

“We know prevention programing works,” said Kae Jonsons, Hanley Center Foundation CEO.  “It is incredibly important that parents and caregivers recognize their role in those efforts.  Our programming is designed to reach the entire family – from kids to caregivers – and that is why our benefit puts so much focus on families having fun. We are so grateful to our chairs, committee members and sponsors for their efforts to ensure an incredible event, one with over-the-top activities and coveted silent auction items – including a silent auction just for kids!”

Led by Chairmen Michelle and Bob Diffenderfer; Co-Chairmen Kai Li Fouts and Chris Jette; Honorary Chairmen Dorothy and Sheriff Ric Bradshaw, Honorary Media Chairwomen WPTV NewsChannel 5’s Roxanne Stein and Honorary Media Chairmen Jill and Rich Switzer from Legends Radio 100.3FM, the 2016 Family Picnic committee includes the following members: Clark Appleby, Amy and Scott Angelo, Lyanne Azqueta, Jack Barrett, Todd Barron, Krista Basore, Turner Benoit, Ryan Bridger and Amy Royster, Karyn Cartledge, Susie Dwinell, Hailey Emmitt, Valerie Fennon, Charles Freeman, Kathryn Gillespie, Donna and Bob Goldfarb, Jennifer Herrington, Kelly Husak, Diane Jehle, Kim Koslow, Jean LaMarca, PJ Layng, Lauren Lieberman, Brent Leslie, Celeste Lioce, Michele Martin, Paula Martin, Sandy McElveen, Celeste Miller, Colleen Orrico, Jillian Percella, Ruby Patterson, Judy Pipal, Michelle Poole, Liz Quinn, Amy and Drew Rothermel, Virginia Savietto, Eddie Schmidt and Ozzie Medeiros, Tracy Sherman, Courtney Tellier, Karen Vaughn, Scott Velozo, Deb Willard, Giselle Winter and Jereann Zann.

Aside from the Adele package, which also includes dinner at Wynwood Kitchen, other “hot-to-trot” items include “Sheriff for a Day,” a unique and private opportunity to explore the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office; high-end jewelry from Tracy Sherman; a two-night stay at the brand new Margaritaville Resort; a one-week stay at a North Carolina vacation home; catered cocktails and appetizers from Bill Hanson Catering; a paddleboard from Sunrise Paddle; and more.

The “best in show” ribbon does have competition though, including a variety of interactive activities, like hamster balls, velcro wall, an inflatable obstacle course, and more. In addition, kids and families can also interact with the Sheriff’s deputies who always steal the show – the specially-trained horses of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Mounted Unit.

Hanley Center Foundation recently expanded its prevention education to include programming in 14 counties, including several schools in Palm Beach County, and prevention funding will serve more than 120,000 students over the next three years.

For more information about the Family Picnic, local prevention programming or sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.hanleycenterfoundation.org, email events@hanleycenterfoundation.org or call 561-841-1166.  Tickets are $220 for adults (18 and over), $50 per child (4-17 years of age) and children 3 and under are free.
