September, 2018 – Diving Back into Music
By Krista Martinelli
This month I’m diving into some of my hobbies and having a lot of fun while doing so. Thanks to having a job that truly ends at the end of the day, I’m able to play tennis on a team, do things like trivia night at Alabama Joe’s and yes, join a rock band. I haven’t played the piano since I was about 16, so it’s a re-learning experience. I signed up with Village Music’s Adult Rock Band Camp. It’s just as it sounds – like the kids’ version of Rock Band Camp but for adults. And sometimes we tell dirty jokes, so that makes it Adult too. Ha! Anyway, we are performing on Friday, Sept. 7th at Village Music and Café at 8pm. Really enjoying the process and connecting with other musicians.
Speaking of Village Music, this month I interviewed co-owner Donna Willey about her additional career as an International College Counselor. Donna assists with the many facets of college prep and college counseling. Read about her story in our “AW Spotlight” this month.
For a taste of one of the best wedding cakes ever, check out “Yummy Treats” with the Sweethearts Dani and Frannie. Eating a chocolate ganache cake is quite a task, but they once again are taking one for the team. So much fun!
Explore one of our local treasures Gumbo Limbo this month in “Living Green.” Barbara Masi gives us a look at what they do for sea turtles and what you can do when you visit.
Back to music, check out “Cultural Corner” this month as Angela Shaw gives us a look at a local talented band, the Mona Lisa Tribe.
Hope you enjoy these and other articles this month! Hope you are enjoying the transition to fall, the re-appearance of pumpkin spice and everything you do Around Wellington this month!
