Wellington Garden Club
In celebration of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 24 at 8:30 a.m., Wellington Garden Club (WGC) is partnering with the Village of Wellington to plant approximately 350 native Walter’s viburnum shrubs at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat on Flying Cow Road in Wellington. Also participating in this celebration, in addition to WGC members and Village staff, are Palm Beach Central High School Environmental Club students and faculty, Boy Scout Troop 222 and Cub Scout Troop 222, Girl Scout Troop 22222. Scout groups will be joined by their leaders and parents. It is expected that at least 50-60 residents of Wellington and surrounding communities will participate in this event. This is the third year that WGC, the Village of Wellington and community groups have celebrated National Public Lands Day by planting native trees or shrubs in the Everglades Habitat. WGC also maintains a native plant garden in the Habitat together with students from Palm Beach Central High School Environmental Club.
