WHAT: “Read for the Record”

WHERE: Palm Beach County Convention Center, 650 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33401

DETAILS: In an effort to expand support of the health and welfare of children in Palm Beach County, the Junior League of the Palm Beaches is kicking off a literacy initiative coinciding with the start of the new League year. This first literacy-based event will be the 2013 ‘Read for the Record,’ sponsored locally by the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. This is an annual event where thousands of adults will be reading the same book, “Otis,” by Loren Long, at child care centers and elementary schools nationwide.

The League’s readings will take place at Creative Minds Academy of the Palm Beaches, 3839 Haverhill Road N, West Palm Beach, FL, 33417. There will be a group of 3 year olds, a group of 4 year olds and 3 groups of Pre-K children.
