IMPACT 100 PALM BEACH COUNTY KICKS OFF SEASON WITH NATIONAL FOUNDER WENDY STEELE

Join Impact 100 PBC members for a presentation from Wendy Steele and reception on October 30th

(Palm Beach, Fla.) – Kick off Fall in an “impactful” way! Impact 100 Palm Beach County is hosting a Fall Kick-Off event featuring keynote speaker and Impact 100 national founder, Wendy Steele on October 20th starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Mizner Park Arts & Cultural Center in Boca Raton. Guests will enjoy a reception to celebrate the next grant giving year for Impact 100 PBC.

Steele founded the global organization in 2001 in response to feeling as though women’s roles in philanthropy needed a new way to be expanded and encouraged. She launched the organization with the goal of empowering women to see themselves as activists through utilizing large grants to make an impact within their communities.

By 2002, Impact 100 received nonprofit status and donated its first grant of $123,000. In 2003, People magazine published a story about Impact 100, and Steele’s idea quickly began to spread. Today, her model has been replicated in cities all over the world and only continues to grow.

“Through the joint efforts of philanthropic women, Impact 100 Palm Beach County gives so many smaller nonprofits a chance to launch new programming or initiatives that they may not have otherwise been able to develop without the grant,” said Holly Schuttler, current president of Impact 100 PBC. “We hope women will come to our kickoff to learn more Impact 100 PBC and all of the great things we do to help other organizations in our community get a jump start to aid our neighbors in need. The more members we have, the greater impact we can make with our donations.”

With 652 members in 2020-21, the Impact 100 PBC chapter is the second largest in the world and is entering its 11th year in Palm Beach County.

“Impact 100 Palm Beach County is completely volunteer-based,” continued Schuttler. “Our members can invest as much time as they have into Impact 100 PBC, but no time commitment is required.”

Impact 100 Palm Beach County is a women’s 501c3 nonprofit organization funding local nonprofit initiatives in southern Palm Beach County – between Boca Raton and Lake Worth. It is comprised of a growing number of women who donate $1,000 annually, pool all funds and vote to award multiple $100,000 grants to nonprofits serving southern Palm Beach County in five focus areas: Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation; Education; Environment and Animal Welfare; Family; and Health and Wellness.

Space is limited at this free event and reservations are required. For more information, please call 561.336.4623 or visit www.impact100pbc.org

Wellington’s Mobile Food Pantry Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wellington & CROS Ministries Continue Supporting Families through Mobile Food Pantry Program
Wellington continues to partner with CROS ministries on a mobile pantry program to serve residents in need.

Organizers and volunteers from CROS ministries distribute food at the walk-up food pantry at Village Park (11700 Pierson Rd). The pantry, located near the eastside gymnasium lobby, is open Fridays from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Some Fridays may be excluded depending on scheduling.

Due to the rise in COVID-19, this pantry offers pre-bagged food items with “limited choice” grocery food items.   The goal of this pantry is to transition to a “choice” pantry, where participants are able to select the grocery food items of their preference.  The pantry operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and recipients must bring a photo ID.

CROS Ministries serves the hungry and operates pantries throughout Palm Beach and Martin counties through community collaborations.   This no-cost public service was made possible through an in-kind donation of facility space by the Village of Wellington. For more information, and to verify hours of operation, call 211 or contact CROS ministries at 561-233-9009
As another way to stay informed on the latest news and updates from the Village, residents are invited to sign up for Wellington information and updates at www.wellingtonfl.gov/Newsletter. # # #

Trustbridge Hospice

Turning clothing and cars into care and compassion

Trustbridge Hospice Foundation

With so many charity thrift stores out there, how do you choose where to donate?  When you donate to Hospice Resale Shops you know your donation stays right here in our community and helps local families facing serious illness and grief.

Senior Director of Resale Operations Cathy Olsen explains that Trustbridge Hospice does whatever it takes to take care of patients and families.  No patient is ever turned away because of their ability to pay.  You can depend on Trustbridge to find the pathway that enables you and your loved one to live every day to the fullest.

The Hospice Resale Shops and Hospice Cars are a part of Trustbridge Hospice Foundation.   Our foundation supports your local, not-for profit hospice providers, Hospice of Palm Beach County and Hospice by the Sea.  We have served over 200,000 patients and their family members since 1978.  We believe that every family facing serious illness deserves physical comfort, emotional well-being and personal dignity.  Thanks to donors, we are able to provide specialized services that relieve symptoms and improve quality of life.  Among the programs Hospice Resale Shops and Hospice Cars supports are:

  • Charity Care ensures that the growing number of patients and families who  are uninsured or don’t have financial means will still receive the care they deserve at the end of life.
  • Extraordinary Comfort Measures allow patients to continue comfort treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy, intravenous medications and blood transfusions.  Trustbridge is one of only 4% of hospices nationwide that provides this.
  • Music Therapy enhances mood, stimulates memory recall and provides unique opportunities for interaction and emotional intimacy for our patients and families.
  • The Sea Star Programs Grief Services for Children recognizes the unique needs of children and teens who have lost a loved one by providing a comprehensive array of grief support throughout our community. These programs include individual counseling sessions, group counseling sessions, school-based therapy groups and three bereavement camp programs.
  • Bereavement support is provided to anyone in the community who has experienced the loss of a loved one, regardless of whether their loved one was a hospice patient or not.
  • Physician and employee training prepares staff to be able to meet the individual needs of every patient they care for.  Our Fellowship program contributes to quality end-of-life care by educating physicians in the latest treatments and care relevant to terminally ill patients’ physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs.

There are so many ways for you to support our community thru Hospice Resale Shops.  The resale shops accept clothing, furniture, household goods, jewelry and more.  With three convenient locations in Boca Raton, Juno and West Palm Beach, there is sure to be a shop close to you.  Can’t carry those large items?  Our shops offer free, scheduled pick up for your convenience.

Our Hospice Cars program provides a convenient and easy way to donate a vehicle.  From cars and trucks to jet skis and boats, one call is all it takes.  We provide free pick-up and process all of the paperwork.  “With just one call, we will seamlessly pick up your donation, sell it, and you will receive a receipt and tax forms,” says Cathy Olsen.

So if you are cleaning out, moving out or moving up, please consider donating your un-needed items to Hospice Resale Shops and give hope, comfort and caring to those who need it most.  For more information, please visit www.trustbridgefoundation.org or call 561-494-6814.

Heart of the Game Announces Two Charity Golf Classics for 2021

Proceeds will provide defibrillators and cardiac emergency training for organizations

West Palm Beach, FL. – Hot on the heels of the CPR requirement that was passed into law this summer, the nonprofit dedicated to saving lives through the gifting ofAutomated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and subsequent training is excited to announce two ways for community members to support their cause this Fall.Heartof the Game, Inc., founded in 2016 by Craig Goldenfarb, will host their annual golf tournament at Banyan Cay Resort inWest Palm Beach on October 22 and at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando on November 10. Both tournaments welcome players, supporters, and sponsors to raise proceeds to purchase the AED machines and provide cardiac emergency response training to athletic organizations, schools, and clubs focusing on youth sports.

“As many as 9,500 youth die in the U.S. each year due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA),” shared Goldenfarb. “Many of these deaths could be prevented with AED machines nearby and the proper training, which also includes knowing how to do CPR. Heart of the Game’s mission is to have life-saving AEDs everywhere athletes play.”

The idea resulted from the near-death experience of Craig’s father and the loss of a fellow adult league soccer player in 2014 after suffering cardiac arrest following a soccer game. Added Goldenfarb, “I was only 17 at the time of my dad’s SCA. Luckily, he survived after having triple bypass surgery. It was when I experienced the loss in my soccer league because no AED was present that I became even more aware of the importance of quick response and positive outcomes. I knew I wanted to do all I could to make AEDs available to save lives.”

Both tournaments feature a 50/50 raffle, mulligans package, liquor cart, lunch, and post-tournament lunch reception featuring prizes and auctions. All player registration fees include greens fees and cart fees.
